Happy Easter 2023

Easter dinner with the extended family was a great way to wrap up a very busy weekend. We enjoyed a yummy ham dinner, and chatted with the grandparents for a few hours. The kids had a blast doing an egg hunt earlier in the day, and also partaking in some of their Easter basket goodies.

The big, fluffy pink bunny is so dang cute!

G loves his Peep Bunny!

The rest of the week was a blur with swimming, taekwondo, work, school, happy hours with a few different friends, and finally a quiet night at home on Friday. Ava is at a sleepover for a friend's birthday on Saturday night, so Scott and I get to hang out with just G. I think we're all looking forward to another quiet night because Sunday is going to get busy! G and I are going to Brick Convention (LEGOS) and then I have book club later that night. Non-stop fun!

The weather got into the 80's this past week, so most of the snow has melted...but not all! It's weird to be so hot, and still see snow piles around town. Temps will normalize a bit this week, so we'll get back to a drizzly April...chances are very good that it will rain, and maybe even snow, on my birthday next week!

We have another very busy week coming up...besides the normal during/after-school activities, we're also adding in a work deployment for me, a happy hour with a coworker, a college prep course for Ava, a field trip for G (with me as a chaperone), and a stargazing event at G's school. Hope the weather holds out for that one!

Goodbye Sweet Spanky

This is a post that I'm not very excited to write.  As you probably know, our oldest dog, Spanky, had struggled with health issues (ear infections, seizures) his whole life, and recently, his health had severely deteriorated.  He hadn't been eating, his ear infection was so severe his face was swollen, he had a hard time getting up the stairs, and he very rarely wanted to play.  Last week we got a few tail wags from him, and he ate a few bowls of food, but it was a 50-50 chance that he would actually keep the food down. On Thursday, we made the decision that if he wasn't any better by this weekend, we were going to put him down.  I know Scott didn't want to make that decision as Spanky was a very special dog to him - he truly was his little buddy, following him around everywhere, wanting to be wherever Scott was, and howling his sadness whenever Scott would leave him. Throughout Friday night, it became clear that Spanky wasn't going to have a miraculous recovery...

Happily Ever After?

Lately, I've been adding to the Disney Princess movies in our collection.  Last week I bought Beauty and the Beast for Ava.  That was never a favorite movie of mine, but now that I've seen it several times in the last week, it's growing on me.  I figure this is a good chance for me to catch up on some of the stories that I missed out on! Watching all of these princess movies has me thinking about fairy tales...why is it that it's always the evil stepMOTHER?  Or the mom is dead, and no one has taken her place?  Very rarely is it the father who is evil, or dead.  This has actually come up as a topic in more than one conversation lately, and has me a bit intrigued.  Fairy tales are often not very happy - and usually someone dies at some point.  I was a giving an overview of Snow White to a friend of mine, and as I was going through the story, both of us were horrified at the message - mom dies, evil stepmother wants to murder her pretty stepdaugh...

We're Baaaaack!

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 3 weeks since I've posted anything.  But, let's be honest - it's been a busy few weeks.  Clearly, I wasn't busy taking photos, as I only have 3 to show on this post.  Let's recap what's been going on in the Goers' household: New siding for our house...!  This is a project that we've been talking about doing for years, and we finally found someone that had the right product and the right price.  Our house is no longer a light peach color, it's Tuscan Clay with white accents.  It looks so shiny and fresh!  Now, we just need to work on our monster of a garage... I was in Palm Springs for eight, verrrrrry loooooong days.  I was staffing a travel program for one of my favorite clients, so at least I liked who I was supporting while there.  I hadn't traveled for work since May 2007, and honestly, I don't miss it.  I guess everything changes once you have a kid.  I missed Ava like crazy, and kept...
