Who's This 70's Man?

Usually I focus on the kids in my blog posts, but today, I'd like to take a look at Scott's facial hair. He usually has a full beard, but the other day he decided he was tired of it tickling his mouth when he ate or drank anything. In the past, he has surprised us with going fully clean-shaven (I don't think any of us like that), but this time, he decided to jazz it up a bit, and shaved it down to some really long sideburns and a 70's 'stache. For some crazy reason, we all think the look works for him. What do you think? Now, about those kids...there's not much that's new. Ava completed her last baton class for the season on Tuesday, and while we thought she was done for a while, it turns out that another girl in the class wants to do a duet, and Ava volunteered to do that with her. We're just waiting on getting the info from the other girl to determine when they can start practicing. Even better...Ava made a comment that she'd like to be friends wit

Recital Fanfare

The highlight of this week was Ava's final baton recital for the year. She's been doing this baton gig for several years now, and since she's been on performance team, we became accustomed to the multiple shows/recitals that she would participate in each season. Once COVID entered the picture, everything changed. The 2020/2021 season was a blur...we were in several different practice locations, and ended the year with a recital in a VFW parking lot (for safety, we couldn't have an indoor recital.) This year was much more smooth. We used the same facility for practice all season, only had a handful of weeks where the practice was done via Zoom, and on this past Friday night, friends and family gathered for the end-of-year recital. Due to size limitations, the recital was split into two parts, so we weren't able to see the National Team perform, but that means we were there for only 30 minutes (which is ideal after a long week.) We used a local community center gym an

Sunny Days Ahead

I think the warmer weather is finally here! We've had a somewhat chilly May, like many-degrees-below-average-temps chilly. Brrrrr! The kids gave me my favorite hanging plants for Mother's Day (it's a tradition...the dipladenias/mandevillas bring in the hummingbirds!) I was a bit worried that I was going to need to bring them in, but the overnight lows only got down to 38 or so. But still...brrrr! My new mug...another great gift for Mother's Day! Plus, G built me that little vase of flowers out of Legos :) This is G's little mug that we got him a few years ago...I love the bear theme! (Both are from Caribou) G has been taking walks with a teacher during school and has been telling us about the goldfish and turtles he has seen in the two ponds that are right on/by the school property. I told him that on Saturday, we'd head over to his school, look for the fish and turtles, and take some time to play on the playground. We had so much fun! The weather was in the low

So Many Cheese Curds

Scott and I have been taking advantage of getting out more, now that I'm fully vaxxed and he still has his antibodies in place from when he had COVID in March. I left my book club a little early last Saturday night (it's fine, it's fine...we were meeting outside and a storm was rolling in) and he and I went to a local bar. There was NO one there so we had the chance to sit at the bar and catch up after a long day. We also decided to order some cheese curds, and couldn't believe how many came in the order. We made a good indent, but to eat them all would have been a digestive accident waiting to happen. That's when we needed Ava and G with us to help eat them up! This doesn't do the curd volume justice... It was a little chilly this week so we had some good snuggle time with the kids. G had a pretty good week at school so we all went out for dinner on Friday night. G actually ran into a buddy from SAC there, so we made some new friends in the area. Hooray! G'

One New Stripe

We kicked off the week with a wonderful Sunday afternoon and evening spent with my parents. It was the first time that we had really spent time with them since last July. That's a really long time! But, we were being very cautious and following guidelines for safe visits with family. And, it was well worth the wait! It was so nice to be able to catch up on things, eat great food, and HUG! It was also a small birthday celebration for me....so there was yummy cake, gifts, and singing. Singing courtesy of the real people in the house, and also Google (thanks, Scott, for that one!) I also met up with my college friend, Angie, on Monday night, and am looking forward to seeing her more frequently in the near future. I had an NPR event that I called in for on Tuesday night (I was really tired so I *might* have fallen asleep during it, lol...but, luckily, they recorded it so I can watch it later!) And then Wednesday night was the first day/night in several days where there weren't plan
