Easter/Birthday 2019

When the birthday falls on the same day as Easter, the weekend is a bit chaotic! BUT, last weekend was fun, and there's no place that we'd rather be on a beautiful spring weekend. After G and I boiled the eggs, we decorated them as a family. Scott and Ava get points for creativity while G and I had fun with stickers Ava was horrified when Scott insisted on dipping the egg in all the colors of dye! I love her face in these pics! G: the yellow and green in the top row Scott: the weird face in the top row and the one that looks like an olive Ava: the blue in the middle row and the light purple one in the bottom row with the granny face Dee: the purple and light yellow in the bottom row Ava, G and I then tackled making my birthday cake...this is a bunny cake that my mom has made for many years, and we thought it would be fun to use it for my birthday/Easter cake this year! Creativity with candles: #43! My parents came over for Easter/bi

Zoo time!

G didn't have daycare on Good Friday so I took the day off of work and spent the entire day hanging out with my little guy. We started the day off at IHOP (he picked out an amazing cupcake pancake for his meal), then we hit up the county service center to pick up a composting bucket (but his highlight was riding the glass elevator - wheeee!), and then we went to the Minnesota Zoo. Since we're members there, we were able to jump the long line and then spent hours walking, talking, and gawking at the animals. We went on trails that I had never been on before, and we saw almost every exhibit! He was such a trooper and was so excited to visit all of the animals. The farm has all of the babies right now, so he was able to pet a baby chick, a baby goat, big goats, and he even fed a sheep. My fave part was the little piglets - they are so cute! (And then I feel really, really guilty for also enjoying bacon.) Yay for composting! We decided that this komodo dragon

There's No Place Like Home...

This was definitely a whirlwind week for us...when we needed sleep the most, it escaped us! Tuesday night I had a car appointment and a happy hour, but made sure that I was home in time to get a decent night's sleep. Haha, the plan didn't work out! Around 11:45pm, Ava came into our room, and told us that she had vomited, but didn't make it to the toilet, and the bathroom was a bit of a mess. OhhEmmGee...she was not lying. I spent about an hour cleaning up the walls, the floor, the toilet, and my feet (after I slid around in the vomit...ugh..*gag*.) For real, it was crazy ridiculous, and I hope never to have to do that again. Scott, and I ended up resting in the family room, so we could keep an eye on her, and she would have quick access to a bathroom. Finally, after getting a little bit of sleep, we headed back up to our bedrooms at 2:45am...and not 5 min later, G starts crying. I was worried I was going to walk into another pukey mess, but luckily, he just thought bugs

Peeps!

Thank goodness there were no April Fool's jokes this week! Ava had a grand one planned, but I accidentally foiled her attempts. She was going to put up a perimeter wall so our Roomba, Bill, couldn't clean everywhere he was supposed to, but...poor Bill has been having battery issues, so I had restricted his use earlier this week. Ava was pretty bummed to realize that her plan wasn't placed in action. I'm pretty happy because we resolved Bill's issues and he's been successful at doing his job in the last half of the week. Yahoo for clean floors! After Ava's baton class on Tuesday, we headed to Carbonne's, and enjoyed the kid's night festivities. G got a cute little puppy painted on his arm, and Ava had a beautiful floral mural painted on hers. It was so lovely, and unlike anything that she had asked for before. That's our girl - always looking for a way to be unique!   In addition to the pretty flowers getting us into the spring mood,
