Birthdays and Bass

My birthday celebration ended with a dinner out with Scott last Saturday night. It didn't turn out quite as we expected/wanted, but it was still good to get away for a short time and go to a new (to us) restaurant. When we got home from dinner, Pria and I took a nice, long walk, which resulted in us both getting very chilly by the time we wrapped it up. Brrr! Pria is such a socially awkward dog. She hides behind trees and peeks out to watch other dogs go by. And then she stares at them for a really, really long time! It's like she might want to say HI to them, but doesn't know how to. Big, exciting news for Ava from last weekend...we bought her an early birthday present - a bass guitar! The one that she really wanted had an issue with the electronics (it had a frog peeking over the top), so between a few other options, she picked out the one you see below. Her music instructor (who is teaching her bass at school) was really happy to hear that she had one of her own to pract

Bricks and Birthdays

Last Sunday, G and I headed off to the Minneapolis Brick Convention to see everything LEGOs! Ever since I bought the tickets, months ago, he couldn't wait to check it out. I was so happy that it was held at a location not too far from home, because it was snowing as we were driving there. Overall, it was a pretty neat experience. There were some amazing brick creations, and of course there was an opportunity to buy LEGO pieces! G has been on a 1980's spaceman kick, so he ended up getting Benny, the blue spaceman (from The LEGO movie), as well as Jenny, the white space(wo)man, as well. Once he had those two new pieces in hand, he was able to focus more on all of the cool builds they had displayed in the convention. It was pretty crowded, so after we were done, I was quite happy to get out of the building into a quiet car. More and more, I'm hitting my limit of "peopling" at an earlier point during each crowded event I go to. But, I did it for G, and he loved it! (I

Happy Easter 2023

Easter dinner with the extended family was a great way to wrap up a very busy weekend. We enjoyed a yummy ham dinner, and chatted with the grandparents for a few hours. The kids had a blast doing an egg hunt earlier in the day, and also partaking in some of their Easter basket goodies. The big, fluffy pink bunny is so dang cute! G loves his Peep Bunny! Pria snuggled in while the kids were doing the Easter Egg hunt The rest of the week was a blur with swimming, taekwondo, work, school, happy hours with a few different friends, and finally a quiet night at home on Friday. Ava is at a sleepover for a friend's birthday on Saturday night, so Scott and I get to hang out with just G. I think we're all looking forward to another quiet night because Sunday is going to get busy! G and I are going to Brick Convention (LEGOS) and then I have book club later that night. Non-stop fun! Statue props courtesy of LEGO and G's creativity! The weather got into the 80's this past week, so m

Back at it!

We dove back into the five day school/work week this week. Swimming, taekwondo, volunteering at the high school, working at night (deployment), and TWO evening birthday parties (both for friends of G.) It was a crazy week, and with the two birthday parties and Easter this weekend, I don't foresee much of a chance to relax. But, busy times like this do make the days fly by! The highlight for me and G this week was the birthday party we attended last night. One of his good friends rented out a movie theater for the release of the Super Mario Brothers (a kids movie, but one that was enjoyable for the adults, too.) We had pizza, cupcakes, popcorn, and the ability to let the kids run loud and wild in the theater. It was a really great idea and a fun way to spend a Friday night. Tonight will be a matter of dropping G off at a trampoline park, and then Scott, Ava, and I can take a break and eat dinner at a nearby restaurant. And when we pick up G he should be tired and worn out (or maybe

More Snow...Sigh

Our yard was clear! There was new grass poking through! It felt like spring! And then...it snowed last night. Not just a cute little dusting. Oh no, this was a dumping of heavy, wet snow. The kind that caused multiple cars to get stuck in our neighborhood this morning. BUT! But, but, but...snow this time of year generally doesn't stick around for long. In fact, the snow on our driveway and sidewalk is mostly gone, and the pavement is somewhat dry. That right there gives me hope that spring is right around the corner. Plus, the temps in the high 40's that we should be seeing in a few days. :) It was spring break for the kiddos this past week. There was some gatherings with friends, some reading, some screen time, some arts & crafts, and a whole lot of me, pulling my hair, wondering why the week was going so slowly. I took Friday off to spend with the kids, as a farewell to the vacation week. We started the day with a yummy breakfast at IHOP, and then headed out to the Mall o
