Week 19 at Home: Ho Hum

This was a week that flew by and I have no idea what we did. I mean, the kids went to the Y programs three days, and Scott and I worked all five days, but...what did we actually do?? Maybe that's okay that I don't remember? Or, maybe it means that all of our days are beginning to meld together, lol. I do know that I went on a really long walk and talk with a friend one night this week. And I also know that G has done a fabulous job of checking off all of his "daily tasks" that I assign to him. And I guess I do know that Ava built a super cute house in Roblox. And we all know that poor Scott is not dealing well with working outside in this hot, humid weather. We're hoping for a little bit of a break in the heat this coming week, so he can sleep better at night. I can't believe that it's August next week. On this coming Thursday, we'll find out what the official state decision is for the start of the school year. Will we go hybrid? In person? Online? I m

Week 18 at Home: Squirrel!

This week was a blur. There was work, there were programs with the Y, there was gatherings with the neighbors, and then there were storms. I was busy binge-watching a show this week after everyone else went to bed, so I didn't get fantastic sleep. I usually use the weekends to try to make up some sleep (sleeping in until 7:30am is my goal...doesn't happen very often) but last night we had some big storms roll through, which meant a certain 6-year-old decided to snuggle into our bed for the night. He doesn't toss or turn like Ava, but he does wake up early, and then play with all of the stuffies he brings into bed. He does a good job whispering to his stuffies while he is playing, but he moves around a lot, and it's just not conducive to an amazing sleeping-in experience. I think that's why everything is a blur. I'm really tired. I have a lot to do around the house, and no energy to do it. I was supposed to meet up with some neighborhood friends on Saturday night

Week 17 at Home: Cotton Candy Sunsets

I can't believe we are on 17 weeks at home. With the latest spikes of COVID-19 across the states, it feels like deja vue from when the pandemic first started to raise concern...17 weeks ago. We have been home for over a quarter of a year, and there isn't an end in sight. I wish we knew what was going to happen with the schools this fall. I'm not fully comfortable sending our kids back to school, full time, so it'll be interesting to see what the options are. In the meantime, we're enjoying each other's company, and figuring out ways to meet new friends. Ava and G had a great time at the Y programs this week. Ava is fully onboard with going next year (her last year due to her age) and G informed me that he's making new friends every day, and he wishes he could go more than 3 days a week. Yeah, no. Not gonna happen, kid. I am LOVING the quiet time I get to work from home during those 3 days a week, but I don't want them to be gone longer than that! On Satu

Week 16 at Home: Happy Independence Day!

We had a great kickoff to the holiday weekend! Scott, the kids, and I took the boat out on Friday and did some fishing. Or, rather, Scott and G did some fishing, while Ava and I hung out in the back and enjoyed the scenery, and tried to stay cool. To be fair, I caught the first fish of the day using G's fishing rod, but then he did an amazing job and probably caught approximately 10 fish for the rest of the time we were on the lake. He loved it! It was super hot out, though, so I think we were all happy when the fishing adventure came to an end, and we were able to get into the air-conditioned truck and head back to our house. We had enough sun for the day, so we spent the rest of the time indoors (Scott stayed outside and visited with the neighbors, but I needed to hydrate and stay cool inside with the kids.) On Saturday, G and I headed over to a neighbor/friend's house and they enjoyed their pool, little splash pad, and lawn games, while I had a chance to catch up with my fri
