Week 50 at Home: Projects Galore!

So when Scott asked for some more projects to do, I definitely found some for him. He made great progress on our laundry room last weekend. It's really hard to tell in the pic below, but the paint color is this lovely baby blue-green shade...it looks wonderful with the dark gray appliances and the white cabinetry. We bought a shelf/rod combo to hang above the washer/dryer, and a butcher block countertop to finish off the cabinetry. I'm not sure if we'll keep the butcher block the natural color or stain it the same gray that we have on our basement shop room cabinets. I think the gray would look nice but, we'll have to see how it all comes together. We also hired someone to paint our main floor walls, up the stairwell (that's a REALLY high ceiling) and the upper landing at the top of the stairs. At the last minute, we decided to add our bedroom into the quote. That means the only rooms that aren't painted, and are still the flat builder's paint, is our bathro

Week 49 at Home: Happy Heart Day!

Valentine's Day...a day full of love...what a great way to start the week off on a high note! The kids got some cuddly and yummy goodies, Scott bought me beautiful flowers, and Ava and I made a nice dinner for everyone on Saturday night. It was a wonderful weekend filled with good family time spent together. A table full of treats... G left us these two notes on our bedroom door...one about the notes I had been leaving them, and another to celebrate Abraham Lincoln's birthday - ha! The end result of the daily love notes I left for G... ...and Ava We also made "Love Lattes" a.k.a. pink hot chocolate - yum! Rare spotting of these two kiddos playing nicely together...intense Minecraft game! Wolfie was hanging out on Ava's leg, just watching her play on her phone We still have part of our Italy Universal Yums box to finish up, and just this week, the Ukraine box showed up...new treats for days! Thumbs up to snuggle time! This was a pretty quiet week, so I don't ha

Week 48 at Home: Proud Moments

We are so proud of our kids! We feel very fortunate that we were blessed with the two kiddos that we have. Are they perfect? Definitely not. Do they try our patience on a regular basis? Sure do! But, overall, they are good kids who try hard, generally do as asked, and are mostly loving and kind to others. We are lucky, no doubt about it. Ava had a nice surprise earlier in the week when the mail came...she was chosen as the Student of the Month for Chinese classes in all of her middle school. She absolutely loves her Chinese class and goes above and beyond in her efforts towards her lessons. I'm so glad that the school has taken notice of it and recognized her. Also, her baton class performed in a winter festival (huh, I had no idea...must have taken place virtually during one of their classes recently), and she was awarded a pin for the performance (now, it could be that everyone got a pin, but we're proud of her, regardless!) She and I also attended her spring conferences (vir

Week 47 at Home: Beautiful Snow

There was a lot of hype this week about the big storm that was coming our way, and while we did receive some snow, it certainly wasn't the blizzardy weather that other parts of the country received. Now, to be fair, it's going to be reaaallllly cold here this week...several days won't even hit zero degrees for the high. Luckily, two of us get to stay at home all of the time, so we're not impacted too much by the weather. And the only time it impacts G (and me) is when we walk home from the bus stop in the afternoon. But, usually we're so busy chatting that we're home before we know it. I take the back roads home when I drop G off at school each day, and I love-love-love how it's wide open spaces, with lots of trees and fields, and not as many houses. This gives me a few minutes of peace before I get home to start my work day. Now, Scott's work is a different story. He will sometimes have to be outside in the cold, fixing equipment, and if it's super
