Those Nails!

This week was Leprechaun Days in Rosemount...fun! Last year it was cancelled due to COVID, and the year before we didn't go because we were in Chicago...so we were really excited to get back to it this year. We generally only go to the stuff on the weekends, but this week, Ava and I went to the Rosemount Community Band concert on Monday night. A few of her old band teachers and bus driver are in the band, so we had some extra incentive to go. The weather was perfect for the outdoor event, and they played fantastic. As we were listening to the music, I noticed people who were tapping their toes on the ground, as if they were keeping time. I wonder if that's a die-hard habit with any trained musician? My toes were certainly tapping! The best part was the audience participation... when they played the YMCA, even Ava got into it, and did the arm motions. It was a great way to kick off the week! On Friday night, the four of us headed down to Central Park to play games, eat some food

Firetrucks and Waffles

What a fun and busy week! I had plans every night this week, which means I was pretty tired by Friday, but it was such a blast catching up with so many friends. I love that everyone is beginning to gather again...it's such a blessing to be able to meet in person.  We had a wonderful visit with my parents last Saturday evening...great food and very interesting conversations about UFOs! That was the first time we had been back (as a family) to their house since Christmas 2019, so it was fantastic to be able to gather. Ava had her last-ever visit from the Tooth Fairy on Wednesday night. She had an appointment on Wednesday morning to get her last two baby teeth pulled, in order to prep her mouth for her Invisalign. She was a trooper, followed instructions, and barely had any pain whatsoever. Ava was even more surprised when she realized the TF left her $20 instead of the traditional gold dollar coin. I'm sure the TF thought that it was an appropriate farewell gift...how generous! G

Boom Bang Boom!

The fireworks were back this year! With 2020 being...well, 2020, there wasn't much celebrating last year. But this year, we made sure to get out and enjoy the 4th of July fireworks entertainment. The neighbors across the street had invested in some sparklers for the kids (they have a girl who is G's age...and they were in the same class last year!) G had no interest in holding a flaming stick, so Abigail was in charge of the show. She did great, and the sparklers were so cool (they came out of the end of a sword!) G's "July" Lego creation, complete with a firework G's version of the Statue of Liberty, featuring Steve with a carrot and an American Girl menu Abigail with the sword! Once it was dark enough, we headed over to our local neighborhood spot to watch the Apple Valley show, as well as the random fireworks that neighbors were lighting. Scott's old boss gave him some fireworks to set off, but I'm really uneasy with setting off fireworks that close

The Wish Fairy

Have you heard of the Wish Fairy? I sure hadn't, and it was a new thing to both Scott and Ava. Apparently our little G heard about the Wish Fairy waaaaay back in Kindergarten, and opted to try out his luck with wishes this week. On Wednesday morning, he insisted that I stay out of his room, but...that's not realistic. I happened to notice that he had written a very sweet note, and left it, along with some coins ($3 to be exact,) for the Wish Fairy. "Dear Wish Fairy, Can I please have a Among Us plush? Thank you. Love, Garrett Goers. Here is are coins for you. There are nine. They are real. You can choose the color. Can it be the next time I come u[p]?" I love that he was so polite and also advised that the coins are real. No fake money here! He was super, super disappointed that when he came home from his summer program on Wednesday night, and there wasn't anything waiting for him. But, little did he know that he just needed to be patient. Look what showed up on h
