New Adult Alert!

We now have another adult in the house...how did that happen?? 18 years ago, I remember holding Arya by her crib, wondering how I was going to survive the next 18 years with a screaming person attached to my hip. And yet, here we are. We made it!

We started her big day (Thursday) with some really fun appointments: renewing her driver's license and passport, and getting some legal docs notarized. After that, we hit up Caribou for a birthday treat, shopped at Savers, and headed to the MOA for some quality bonding time. When we got home, we had a bit of downtime, then had dinner at Olive Garden so she could get her fill of the chicken & gnocchi soup! To top off her golden birthday, we enjoyed some cake later that night, and she opened her gifts. Her bff had stopped by at midnight the night before to be the very first to wish her a HBD. She brought her flowers, a cake slice, and some gifts. These kids are so good to each other!

She picked out a caterpillar warmie as one of her gifts...this cuddly guy will be heading to UWRF with her

On Wednesday night, Arya and I took a pad thai cooking class with a local chef. It was held at G's middle school, and it turns out that we cooked in the station right next to where he cooked all last trimeseter in his FACS class. We were parterned with a very friendly older woman, and we all had a blast working together to make the pad thai - and it turned out pretty good!

After the class, Arya wanted a sweet treat, so off to DQ we went!

On Sunday, Deb hosted a small grad party for Arya. It was a lovely time catching up with a few family friends, in/out-of-state family, and Arya's BFF's family. A big thanks to Deb for hosting this for her!

Let's see...there are other people in this house. What did we do this week? G hung out at home, and played online games and chatted with his friends for most of the week. He's also really spreading his bike radius and is hitting up more shops with this friends. He's discovered the joy of going to a local gas station and buying candy lol.

I had a really fun offiste work event on Tuesday, which included duckpin bowling, axe throwing, cornhole, an arcade, eating/drinking, and chatting it up. On Wednesday, I had to head back into the office for a 4-hour workshop on some changes that are team will be implementing. Now that we are officially the Digital team, we've got strong executive-level leadership (just for us!), and a clear vision for the future. It's an exciting time to be on the team!

Scott...worked! It's been a busy week for all of us, and he's been trying to keep cool with some of the warmer temps. Although yesterday, when a storm rolled through, he turned on the heater in the garage. Not too much to report for the two other adults in the house. We're too busy adulting to have too much fun. Haha!

Goodbye Sweet Spanky

This is a post that I'm not very excited to write.  As you probably know, our oldest dog, Spanky, had struggled with health issues (ear infections, seizures) his whole life, and recently, his health had severely deteriorated.  He hadn't been eating, his ear infection was so severe his face was swollen, he had a hard time getting up the stairs, and he very rarely wanted to play.  Last week we got a few tail wags from him, and he ate a few bowls of food, but it was a 50-50 chance that he would actually keep the food down. On Thursday, we made the decision that if he wasn't any better by this weekend, we were going to put him down.  I know Scott didn't want to make that decision as Spanky was a very special dog to him - he truly was his little buddy, following him around everywhere, wanting to be wherever Scott was, and howling his sadness whenever Scott would leave him. Throughout Friday night, it became clear that Spanky wasn't going to have a miraculous recovery...

Grandparents, Birthdays, and Sprinklers, Oh MY!

What a whirlwind week we've had...I was trying to get everything wrapped up at work so I could take my 5-day "furlough" from last Wednesday, through tomorrow. Wednesday was my first day at home, so Ava and I had a ton of "fun" getting everything ready for the upcoming activities. I did have a wonderful massage, so that started my vacation off very well... Gramma Karen and Grampa Doug drove in from KC on Wednesday afternoon. We had a great evening catching up, and enjoying the nice weather (until the downpour that happened right as they were leaving our house!) On Thursday, Scott, Dad, Mom, and I drove down to Cannon Falls and Rochester to check out the areas for potential future homes/land for us. At some point, we'd like to move south of the Cities. Ava was a very good little girl, especially considering that she was stuck in a car for most of her FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! We went to Applebee's for lunch, and the wait staff came out singing to someone else...I...

The Early Bird

I realized that I skipped a chunk of pictures that I wanted to share...things were super busy last weekend, so we'll blame my lapse of memory on that! The focus was so much on Ava's party, that I neglected to share the family birthday photos, too. Two weeks ago, we invited all of the grandparents over for a wonderful dinner of smoked prime rib (and other yummy sides), and then topped it off with a raspberry mojito birthday cake for the newly minted eight-year-old. We like to experiment with different birthday cake flavors for her birthday, and this one was MUCH better than the watermelon cake from last year (gross-gross-gross!)      Saying cheese with Grandpa Doug! G and I took a break from the present pics to take some selfies ;) Even his cars made an appearance! Super excited to be receiving an aquascope! And no birthday is complete without something from American Girl - this time is was a pizza party set - awesome! We have also...
