Warning: Teenager Ahead

We have a teenager in the house! Does that mean we're going to have snarkiness and eye rolls galore? So far, no. Granted, it's only been a very short time, but we're off to a good start. :) Scott and I are so proud of who she is, and how she is carrying herself in this world. We cannot wait to see what she accomplishes in this new year. Happy 13th Birthday, sweet Ava!

I took Friday off to spend the day with the kiddos, and had Ava make a lot of the decisions about what we were going to do to celebrate her birthday. We made a trip to Caribou for a late breakfast, hit up Cub to pick up her cake, and then G and I went to the pool while Ava took it easy at the house.

Now that she's 13, she's venturing into social media. Gotta take pics of food!

We're going to head down for the weekend to our dear friends' house in the middle of Minnesota. This will be the first time we've seen them in almost a year, so we are SO looking forward to hanging out with them and catching up on everything! Their oldest daughter, Isabel, and Ava have known each other since birth, so spending time with Isabel is how Ava wanted to celebrate her special weekend. I love it!

In other news, on Thursday, both Ava and G earned their 2nd stripe in Taekwondo. Great job, kiddos!

This doesn't happen often, but when they snuggle together during a movie, I have to capture it!

I'm sure there will be much more to write about next weekend, so until then, enjoy the official start of summer. And Father's Day! Happy Father's Day to all of the wonderful dads...I'm so lucky to be blessed with the best of the best in that department! I love you, Dad!

Snuggly Warm

It's the time of year to be cozy, so there's nothing better than sitting in front of a warm fire, reading a good book/watching a good show, and enjoying the glow of the Christmas tree. 26 Hours in a Day

Just yesterday morning, I was thinking to myself that I could really use a few more hours each day. We don't sleep a whole lot, both work long hours at our jobs, try to play with Ava as much as we can at night and on the weekends, and then we have to do all of the adult-stuff...paying bills, grocery shopping, cleaning, work on side jobs, house projects, etc. If there were only 26 hours in a day, we could: *Sleep just an extra 30 minutes - we need it since the dogs have been waking us up each weekend day at 5:30am. What could be SO urgent that they need to get us up then?!? You'd think we only feed them once a week, or something. *Spend an extra hour with Ava...we could go to the park every night, take an extra long bath, read a few extra stories, and just enjoy the giggles and chattiness. *Take 30 minutes to talk to each other about how things are going. Barbie & George

We had a fun week to wrap up November. Last Saturday, Scott and I enjoyed a nice dinner out, and then a spontaneous trip to Home Depot...and we got some new exterior Christmas décor! But more important was the time spent together. Plus, it started to snow, so the view from the restaurant was beautiful (but the drive home was a little sketchy.) On Tuesday night, Ava and I headed out to the Mall of America to experience the Malibu Barbie Café. We had a blast exploring the area, eating the yummy food, and then shopping for a bit. It was a wonderful night evening spent together. Even the drinks were pretty!
