It's Just a Little Chilly

So it's been cold. Like, really cold. As in -36F with wind chill cold. And there's been a lot of snow. It's safe to say that we will definitely have a White Christmas this year. As I was letting Pria out earlier today, I noticed that she can barely peek above the snow from the little area that we shoveled for her. And, yes, she's not a huge dog, but I bet her eyes are about 15" off the ground. So...that's a lot of snow to try to look over.

In any case, we persisted, and carried on with our pre-holiday activities. We all wrapped up the work week and the school week (the kids' school was cancelled on the last day of the week due to the cold temps, so they get an extra day for their winter break - lucky!) and now we're heading full steam into the holidays.

For Christmas Eve, we are heading to my parents house for our traditional Christmas Even dinner of butterball soup and other goodies. Scott's mom will be joining us this year, which is an extra bonus for all of us. Christmas Day will be a quiet one at our house, with just the four of us. I enjoy the time with the kids and Scott, where we open gifts after breakfast, and then we each scatter our own ways to enjoy the blessings received from the day. Scott will be making us a wonderful prime rib dinner, which we enjoy every year!

And then we have a few days to rest (not really) and then 3/4 of us fly off to southern California for a week. Scott will be staying at home with Pria, and probably enjoying the peace and quiet!

Don't forget to tune into the Rose Parade on Monday, January 2, 2023 (8am PT) and look for the Rosemount High School Marching Band!

Ava will be in the second line after the RHS marching band sign, and will be the trumpet player on the far outside (if the band is coming directly toward you, she'll be on the right side.) Go Irish! We're looking forward to a fun week supporting our kiddos and getting to thaw out a bit from the MN weather!

Now for some random pictures from our week...

Our front porch planters look so pretty covered with snow (and the green porch light casting its glow)

As I was driving back from dropping G off at school one morning, I came around a corner, and was amazed by the sun peeking over the horizon. SO pretty!

We had dinner with our good friends last weekend and Santa showed up at the restaurant. What a wonderful surprise!

This guy finally got his green belt!

Out to dinner on Friday night. Due to the weather the restaurants were quiet, but it was nice to be out for a bit after this hectic week.

These two didn't cooperate to take a nice pic together...

Snuggling with Dad on Christmas Eve morning :)

And let's check in to see what George has been up to this week. Tonight (Christmas Eve) he'll fly back to the North Pole with Santa, so G was able to give him a hug today. Awww...!

Snuggly Warm

It's the time of year to be cozy, so there's nothing better than sitting in front of a warm fire, reading a good book/watching a good show, and enjoying the glow of the Christmas tree. Even Pria thinks so! Pria was avoiding the vacuum earlier this week...she loves to be on Ava's bed! Getting cozy inside of a little fortress After a fairly busy week at school, work, and extracurricular activities, we all enjoyed a night at home on Friday. G and I built gingerbread houses (they both look a little sad, but we had fun), and then we all played Tractoropoly for a few hours. Turns out that G was stockpiling money, so we need to figure out his secret on how to save! Love Ava's face and hand placement here And we can't forget all of the treats that George brought this week! Sunday, December 10 "Can you get a bullseye?" Monday, December 11 "I'm brining Christmas Cheer, by singing loud for everyone to hear!" Tuesday, December 12 "Don't be the o

Barbie & George

We had a fun week to wrap up November. Last Saturday, Scott and I enjoyed a nice dinner out, and then a spontaneous trip to Home Depot...and we got some new exterior Christmas décor! But more important was the time spent together. Plus, it started to snow, so the view from the restaurant was beautiful (but the drive home was a little sketchy.) On Tuesday night, Ava and I headed out to the Mall of America to experience the Malibu Barbie Café. We had a blast exploring the area, eating the yummy food, and then shopping for a bit. It was a wonderful night evening spent together. Even the drinks were pretty! My Avocado Toast & salad Ava's Paradise Pancakes On Friday night, my book club gathered for our holiday party and it was a blast! We had such a good time chatting, eating, drinking, and finished off the night with a book exchange. I cherish and deeply appreciate the friendships that have developed with my neighbors because of this book club. And to really kick off the holiday se

26 Hours in a Day

Just yesterday morning, I was thinking to myself that I could really use a few more hours each day.  We don't sleep a whole lot, both work long hours at our jobs, try to play with Ava as much as we can at night and on the weekends, and then we have to do all of the adult-stuff...paying bills, grocery shopping, cleaning, work on side jobs, house projects, etc.  If there were only 26 hours in a day, we could: *Sleep just an extra 30 minutes - we need it since the dogs have been waking us up each weekend day at 5:30am.  What could be SO urgent that they need to get us up then?!?  You'd think we only feed them once a week, or something. *Spend an extra hour with Ava...we could go to the park every night, take an extra long bath, read a few extra stories, and just enjoy the giggles and chattiness. *Take 30 minutes to talk to each other about how things are going.  With Scott leaving for work each day before 5am, and then all of the craziness that ensues when I get home at nigh
