Happy Mother's Day!

We had a wonderful day today! Daddy took care of the dogs and Ava this morning so Mommy could sleep in. Unfortunately for Mommy, sleeping in is just not an option any more - I was wide awake and ready to get stuff done at 7am.

Scott made us breakfast, and then I opened the gift Ava made for me at daycare (a cute paper "flower" card where the petals were made out of tracings of her hand on paper, and a very sweet "Mom" poem.) And from Ava and Daddy, I received a necklace with an engraved "A" and her birthstone on the pendant. Very pretty and special!

We spent the day doing errands, visiting Grandma Deb and Grandpa Whitey, and video calling Gramma Karen and Grampa Doug. We also spent some quality time outside, admiring the garden, the windmill, and our beautiful green lawn. Can't wait to let Ava play on it this summer!

Scott and I both had a very rough week at work last week - thank goodness for Ava who makes us laugh all of the time. A few nights ago she put her head down to the bathwater and was lapping it like a dog! 1.) Gross! but 2.) Yay...maybe she was thinking about her swimming classes and how they're not so scary after all!

I'm looking forward to going to a HUGE babies/kids stuff consignment sale with my friend Lisa this week...watch out, Ava, Mommy's going to come back with a ton of stuff for you!

OMG that video is so funny! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one w/ a weird kid. And good job Scott and Ava on the Mother's day gift. Can't wait to see it!

Snuggly Warm

It's the time of year to be cozy, so there's nothing better than sitting in front of a warm fire, reading a good book/watching a good show, and enjoying the glow of the Christmas tree. Even Pria thinks so! Pria was avoiding the vacuum earlier this week...she loves to be on Ava's bed! Getting cozy inside of a little fortress After a fairly busy week at school, work, and extracurricular activities, we all enjoyed a night at home on Friday. G and I built gingerbread houses (they both look a little sad, but we had fun), and then we all played Tractoropoly for a few hours. Turns out that G was stockpiling money, so we need to figure out his secret on how to save! Love Ava's face and hand placement here And we can't forget all of the treats that George brought this week! Sunday, December 10 "Can you get a bullseye?" Monday, December 11 "I'm brining Christmas Cheer, by singing loud for everyone to hear!" Tuesday, December 12 "Don't be the o

Barbie & George

We had a fun week to wrap up November. Last Saturday, Scott and I enjoyed a nice dinner out, and then a spontaneous trip to Home Depot...and we got some new exterior Christmas décor! But more important was the time spent together. Plus, it started to snow, so the view from the restaurant was beautiful (but the drive home was a little sketchy.) On Tuesday night, Ava and I headed out to the Mall of America to experience the Malibu Barbie Café. We had a blast exploring the area, eating the yummy food, and then shopping for a bit. It was a wonderful night evening spent together. Even the drinks were pretty! My Avocado Toast & salad Ava's Paradise Pancakes On Friday night, my book club gathered for our holiday party and it was a blast! We had such a good time chatting, eating, drinking, and finished off the night with a book exchange. I cherish and deeply appreciate the friendships that have developed with my neighbors because of this book club. And to really kick off the holiday se

State Fair 2023

The end of summer is officially here (although, not by calendar standards, as G likes to point out.) The Minnesota State Fair 2023 kicked off on Thursday, and we were there to cheer on the RHSMB. Per tradition, they were the first band in the parade on the first day - what an honor! We're so used to long parades, that when the whole thing was past us in less than 15 minutes, it was a little shocking. Due to copyright issues, I can't post any video of the band online, but trust me, they were great! We ate the perfect amount of fair food that we weren't stuffed, and since it was opening day, it was a little less crowded than the weekends (which was a great thing for us.) G did so well this year, and didn't complain or beg for anything. Now that he's older, it's much easier to bring him places like this, and we can all enjoy it. We even managed to meet up with my friend Emilie who was there for a work event. It was great to catch up for a few minutes, and take a br
