Spring Break 2025

Ava had an awesome spring break in Austria and Germany, while the rest of us stayed at home. G, of course, didn't have school, so I took Thursday off of work, and we spent the day together. We went out for breakfast at Caribou, did a few local errands, and then headed to the Mall of America for some fun! We generally ride the Flyover America ride, but we had seen both locations (the U.S. and Africa), and decided to try a different activity while there. We ended up at the Museum of Illusions...it was really neat! We spent our time and looked at each illusion and tried to figure out how it worked. There were a few where G had to explain it to me (that kid's a smartie!) After we were done with MOI, we went to a sushi restaurant. Our drinks were delivered by a robot, and our food was sent to us via a conveyer belt. He really enjoyed the experience (and the food was tasty, too.) When we finished up with lunch, we walked through the MOA, and hit up a few of our fave stores (LEGO was, of course, where we spent the most time.)

Starting the day right at Caribou!

Lunch at a revolving sushi restaurant!

Once we were all peopled-out, we headed home, and I surprised him with a custom popsicle at a local sweet shop in town. And then I took Pria on a walk to soak in the warm sun. It was a really great day spent together!

I also took Friday off because Ava was finally flying home from Europe. Hooray! We missed her so much, and I felt a sense of relief having her back in our home. She had a wonderful time, and enjoyed seeing new countries, trying different foods, and experiencing different cultures. I'm so proud of her for keeping an open mind. They spent most of their time in Austria, with just a few days in Germany. She would like to go back!

I was able to livestream their 2nd concert in Innsbruck

Finally back in MSP!

I've been working on reading the Bible, chronologically, and I wrapped up the Old Testament last month. I think I'll be finishing the New Testament in May, and I decided to augment my learning by watching The Chosen. It's helped me solidify quite a few of the events that have taken place in the New Testament thus far. I finished season 4 last week, just in time to buy tickets to season 5, which our local movie theater is showing in three parts. I went to the 1st part this morning, and loved it. I generally don't go to movies by myself, but this was a good choice...I could focus on the movie, and really enjoy it. I'm looking forward to the next 2 parts (my tickets are purchased and ready to go!)

One more day off from school and work, and then back to reality on Tuesday!

Goodbye Sweet Spanky

This is a post that I'm not very excited to write.  As you probably know, our oldest dog, Spanky, had struggled with health issues (ear infections, seizures) his whole life, and recently, his health had severely deteriorated.  He hadn't been eating, his ear infection was so severe his face was swollen, he had a hard time getting up the stairs, and he very rarely wanted to play.  Last week we got a few tail wags from him, and he ate a few bowls of food, but it was a 50-50 chance that he would actually keep the food down. On Thursday, we made the decision that if he wasn't any better by this weekend, we were going to put him down.  I know Scott didn't want to make that decision as Spanky was a very special dog to him - he truly was his little buddy, following him around everywhere, wanting to be wherever Scott was, and howling his sadness whenever Scott would leave him. Throughout Friday night, it became clear that Spanky wasn't going to have a miraculous recovery...

Grandparents, Birthdays, and Sprinklers, Oh MY!

What a whirlwind week we've had...I was trying to get everything wrapped up at work so I could take my 5-day "furlough" from last Wednesday, through tomorrow. Wednesday was my first day at home, so Ava and I had a ton of "fun" getting everything ready for the upcoming activities. I did have a wonderful massage, so that started my vacation off very well... Gramma Karen and Grampa Doug drove in from KC on Wednesday afternoon. We had a great evening catching up, and enjoying the nice weather (until the downpour that happened right as they were leaving our house!) On Thursday, Scott, Dad, Mom, and I drove down to Cannon Falls and Rochester to check out the areas for potential future homes/land for us. At some point, we'd like to move south of the Cities. Ava was a very good little girl, especially considering that she was stuck in a car for most of her FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! We went to Applebee's for lunch, and the wait staff came out singing to someone else...I...

We're Baaaaack!

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 3 weeks since I've posted anything.  But, let's be honest - it's been a busy few weeks.  Clearly, I wasn't busy taking photos, as I only have 3 to show on this post.  Let's recap what's been going on in the Goers' household: New siding for our house...!  This is a project that we've been talking about doing for years, and we finally found someone that had the right product and the right price.  Our house is no longer a light peach color, it's Tuscan Clay with white accents.  It looks so shiny and fresh!  Now, we just need to work on our monster of a garage... I was in Palm Springs for eight, verrrrrry loooooong days.  I was staffing a travel program for one of my favorite clients, so at least I liked who I was supporting while there.  I hadn't traveled for work since May 2007, and honestly, I don't miss it.  I guess everything changes once you have a kid.  I missed Ava like crazy, and kept...
