Band and Birthdays!

Last week started off with a fantastic game at US Bank. I hadn't been to a Vikings game since the Metrodome was still standing, so to go to a game at the Bank was amazing. Yes, I had just been there one week earlier for YIM, but there's just a few more people there for an NFL game. We had a great time, and even enjoyed the super long time it took us to get out of the parking ramp. Best way to pass the time is by chatting and hanging out with a good friend! Love all of the purple ! On Saturday night, Ava and enjoyed dinner at a new Indian restaurant by my work. It was so good, and the customer service was fantastic! This week was another blur...there was so much to do, and not enough time. I had a few nights at home, but they were busy prepping for the days to come.  Apple cider and glazed donuts...a fall tradition from my childhood Playing a rollercoaster game in VR Snuggling with my girl Ava and the RHSMB left for St Louis early on Thursday morning. With the help of another tr...

Grand Champions 2024!

The RHSMB did it again! They are Class 4A champions, MN State Champions, and the overall Grand Champions for Youth in Music! They put on a great show last Saturday night at US Bank, and really earned those awards. My mom, Deb, and I headed downtown and had a good time chatting with other parents, meeting new people, and watching/listening to the performance. So glad we were able to attend! "Sea of Gold" with the RHSMB on the field The UW Eau Claire marching band played in exhibition during YIM finals this year. I love that they leave the field at the end of their performance and play for the remaining high school marching bands in the stands. On Monday, G and I went to the Trunk or Treat event at his school. I'm happy that he gets to wear his costume more than just on Halloween. He doesn't have an official proton pack to wear, so his black backpack works well, plus, it's a great place to carry his candy!   On Tuesday, G ran his last Fun Run ever! He ran 42 laps, a...

Oktoberfest 2024

The RHS Band Oktoberfest was a success last weekend! It was fun helping with setup, and then when my family showed up for lunch, I was able to wrap it up and join them to eat. The customers really started to pour in once the Vikings game ended, so it'll be interesting to hear how much money was brought in. Our family didn't win any of the silent auction baskets, but that's okay. I'm also happy that people bid on the German basket that the trumpet group made...I was a little worried that no one would be interested. I'm curious what it eventually went for, but...I suppose I'll never know! Ava's been very busy this week with school, work, and rehearsals. On Saturday, the RHSMB is off to US Bank Stadium to play at Youth in Music (Minnesota's state championships for high school marching bands.) My parents, Deb, and I are all looking forward to cheering on the Irish! G and I volunteered at his elementary school on Friday afternoon. Their fall fundraiser is tak...

Pumpkins Pumpkins Everywhere!

The RHSMB did it! Last week in Waukee for the Bands of America Regional event, they placed first in their class (3A), and then advanced to finals where they defended their regional champion title. For two years in a row, they hit their goals. There's still plenty of work to do before the BOA Super Regional in St Louis, as well as Grand Nationals in Indy, but we are so proud of how hard these kids work to get to where they are today! What else did we do? Two nights of MB rehearsal, one evening at a local high school with a friend watching a hilarious rendition of "Clue", two evenings of Ava working her job at the childcare center, one evening spent watching the VP debate with my neighborhood friends, one perfect night spent walking through the Jack O'Lantern Spectacular at the Minnesota Zoo, one night performing for the varsity football game, one afternoon with an intense meeting in the office, three different dr appts getting vaccines for me, Ava, and G, plus wrapping...
