Last Day of School 2024

The kids wrapped up 10th and 4th grade this week! I can't believe that Ava is halfway through high school, and G has only one more year left in elementary school. Where did the time go?

They've had a great start to summer...very relaxing and laid back over the last few days. Ava went to a party on Wednesday night (the last day of school), so G, Scott, and I went out for dinner...G's choice! Meanwhile, Scott and I plod along, working. No last day of school for us!

Only a little bit longer for him to order off of the kids menu...

G took the extra time in the morning to come in for snuggles before I had to get up for work

And of course, a piggyback ride before watching a movie on Friday night!

Bill Nye (the fish) didn't survive last weekend, so there were quite a few tears to manage. We made some improvements to the aquarium, so we're going to try again with new fish soon. I really think that fish are harder to take care of than a dog. Wish us luck with our new fishy friends!

It's the start of grad party season. Ava went to one last weekend, we went to Scott's nephew's on Saturday, and will go to his cousin's on Sunday. Ava's got another one she's looking forward to in a few weeks...and who knows what else will pop up. It's a great time to celebrate the achievements of all of these hard-working kids. Congrats to the class of 2024!

Goodbye Sweet Spanky

This is a post that I'm not very excited to write.  As you probably know, our oldest dog, Spanky, had struggled with health issues (ear infections, seizures) his whole life, and recently, his health had severely deteriorated.  He hadn't been eating, his ear infection was so severe his face was swollen, he had a hard time getting up the stairs, and he very rarely wanted to play.  Last week we got a few tail wags from him, and he ate a few bowls of food, but it was a 50-50 chance that he would actually keep the food down. On Thursday, we made the decision that if he wasn't any better by this weekend, we were going to put him down.  I know Scott didn't want to make that decision as Spanky was a very special dog to him - he truly was his little buddy, following him around everywhere, wanting to be wherever Scott was, and howling his sadness whenever Scott would leave him. Throughout Friday night, it became clear that Spanky wasn't going to have a miraculous recovery...

Grandparents, Birthdays, and Sprinklers, Oh MY!

What a whirlwind week we've had...I was trying to get everything wrapped up at work so I could take my 5-day "furlough" from last Wednesday, through tomorrow. Wednesday was my first day at home, so Ava and I had a ton of "fun" getting everything ready for the upcoming activities. I did have a wonderful massage, so that started my vacation off very well... Gramma Karen and Grampa Doug drove in from KC on Wednesday afternoon. We had a great evening catching up, and enjoying the nice weather (until the downpour that happened right as they were leaving our house!) On Thursday, Scott, Dad, Mom, and I drove down to Cannon Falls and Rochester to check out the areas for potential future homes/land for us. At some point, we'd like to move south of the Cities. Ava was a very good little girl, especially considering that she was stuck in a car for most of her FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! We went to Applebee's for lunch, and the wait staff came out singing to someone else...I...

We're Baaaaack!

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 3 weeks since I've posted anything.  But, let's be honest - it's been a busy few weeks.  Clearly, I wasn't busy taking photos, as I only have 3 to show on this post.  Let's recap what's been going on in the Goers' household: New siding for our house...!  This is a project that we've been talking about doing for years, and we finally found someone that had the right product and the right price.  Our house is no longer a light peach color, it's Tuscan Clay with white accents.  It looks so shiny and fresh!  Now, we just need to work on our monster of a garage... I was in Palm Springs for eight, verrrrrry loooooong days.  I was staffing a travel program for one of my favorite clients, so at least I liked who I was supporting while there.  I hadn't traveled for work since May 2007, and honestly, I don't miss it.  I guess everything changes once you have a kid.  I missed Ava like crazy, and kept...
