Welllll.....this was an interesting week. We had a whole lot of extracurricular events planned for this week, and I'm pretty sure we didn't do any of them. Happy hours were skipped, but shopping trips to Target and Walmart increased. And we are prepping to get really comfy at home for a while.
Let's see....what happened that was not COVID-19 related? G had a good second session at therapy, and we enjoyed a family dinner out at Carbone's afterwards to celebrate a good previous week for him. He also came home with a very loose bottom tooth this week. When he left in the morning, it wasn't loose, but something "just happened" on his bus ride home, and it became super wiggly, out of nowhere. Amazing! (We did quiz him to see if he had bumped his mouth or bit into something, but he claims he didn't...the tooth just became loose on its own. Hmmmm...)
Ava had a good first week of Tri 3. It's hard to believe that her first year in middle school is already 2/3 over. For Tri 2, she pulled in all A's and one B+. Not too shabby, kiddo! Her baton performance was cancelled for this weekend, and they're moving to an online format for the next few weeks, so that should be interesting, to say the least. I think we'll have to clear out the garage for her, as they are meeting via a video call, so I believe they'll be performing their routines virtually. Watch out for the cars while twirling, Ava!
On Friday, my work announced that we are able to work from home (no given end date) starting this Monday. Plus, the field trip that I was supposed to chaperone with G on this upcoming Thursday has been cancelled (I feel bad for the kids...not so much for me, lol.) And, I am scheduled for a 2-day training to become a Scrum Certified Product Owner later this coming week. It was going to be held in downtown Minneapolis this coming Friday and Saturday, but they have moved it to be a virtual training instead. (I'm actually really thrilled with this, as I wasn't super excited to take the light rail into Mpls given the current health situation in Minnesota.)
Personally, this whole social distancing thing is my jam. This introvert is so excited not to have to see people and interact with them on a regular basis. There are very few occasions that I truly look forward to getting together with a group, so all of these cancellations are fine by me! I wish I had known the term "social distancing" before...it sounds so much better than being labeled an "introvert".
Schools haven't been cancelled for us...yet. We have one more week until spring break so it'll be interesting to see if we can make it that far, or if the district will choose to close prior to that. G's teacher is starting to implement some online courses for the kiddos, but they're kindergartners...they definitely need some hand-holding while learning at home. As for Ava, in our district, all kids in grades 4 and higher have iPads, so she will be set with online learning and won't need much guidance at all.
Scott can't work from home, so it's business as usual for him...
We're in for interesting times. I feel like I've been thinking about this virus since late last year, listening in horror as the numbers in China grew. It was just a matter of time before it came to the US. I pray that everyone we know is able to find some peace during these turbulent times.

It's hard to see, but the bottom one on above my thumb is barely hanging by a thread!

I will miss the wonderful meals from the Patterson cafe while I'm working at home. The pork tacos this week were fabulous!
