Walks and Whines

Remember my bulletin board that I mentioned last week? It's down to just TWO pieces of paper on it....wheeee! I don't recall being quite this busy before, but WOW!

G had a Mother's Day breakfast on Monday, so he and I had a great time chomping on sweets and fruits. It might have been his only good time at daycare this week, as he was N-A-U-G-H-T-Y! He was not a nice little boy during the week...not to his friends, not to his teachers, not to his family, and not to his underwear! We were on a good potty-training streak for a while, but this past week was brutal. Ugh. I hope this coming week is a better one...

Ava had so much stuff going on...she had her field day at school (she still likes the stilts games the best) on Monday, baton practice on Tuesday, an ortho consultation on Wednesday (no braces needed at this time, but we'll go back in a year for a follow-up,) a local garage sale adventure on Thursday, a very long 5k with my Mom and me on Friday (it was closer to 5 miles for us,) and on Saturday, she had her end-of-year baton recital. Whew!

This was a pre-5k picture...Ava complained and whined during most of the walk, but managed to get some energy, right at the end, to sprint up to the finish line!

I didn't take any pics of the baton recital, but she and her crew looked adorable in their costumes. Plus, they also did a bonus number with the Junior Performance team. All of the acts were really cute to watch, and Ava seems to like it, so that's all that matters!

Ava will be heading out this afternoon to celebrate with a friend for her birthday (not an official birthday party), so it'll be good for her to jump some of her energy out (they're going to a trampoline park.) We also need to start planning for HER 10th birthday party, as it's coming up in less than a month!

When I wasn't shuttling the kids all around this week, I worked (normal hours, not excessive amounts of OT), and then decided to fall ill on Thursday...just in time to barely participate in my work's trivia event. I was so sick on Thursday night...but, it must have been just a 24-hour bug, as I was feeling 95% better the next day! I took a half day on Friday to run some errands and relax...I read on our deck for about an hour, enjoying the spring warmth. It was so nice to have some quiet time...key word being QUIET.

We did have a spontaneous pizza dinner with the neighbors on Friday night...the kids all love playing together, and we were hungry, so...it worked! We stayed out until about 9:30pm, and then everyone started to crash, including the adults. It was a great way to get some adult time, and also wear out the kids. Ha!

G was showing off another bow, and little Nora is in the background!

I managed to squeeze in a walk over lunch this week...and found this little guy!

I did get a little love from the kids this week, although Ava looks a bit terrified!

Scott was also super busy at work this week, and ended up working most of the day on Saturday (when he wasn't at the baton recital with me and G.) We did enjoy a nice dinner out last night as a family, but we were all exhausted by the time we came home. Ava was SO ready for bed at 8:30pm!

Hoping this coming week is a bit more relaxed and not quite as crazy!

Snuggly Warm

It's the time of year to be cozy, so there's nothing better than sitting in front of a warm fire, reading a good book/watching a good show, and enjoying the glow of the Christmas tree. Even Pria thinks so! Pria was avoiding the vacuum earlier this week...she loves to be on Ava's bed! Getting cozy inside of a little fortress After a fairly busy week at school, work, and extracurricular activities, we all enjoyed a night at home on Friday. G and I built gingerbread houses (they both look a little sad, but we had fun), and then we all played Tractoropoly for a few hours. Turns out that G was stockpiling money, so we need to figure out his secret on how to save! Love Ava's face and hand placement here And we can't forget all of the treats that George brought this week! Sunday, December 10 "Can you get a bullseye?" Monday, December 11 "I'm brining Christmas Cheer, by singing loud for everyone to hear!" Tuesday, December 12 "Don't be the o

Barbie & George

We had a fun week to wrap up November. Last Saturday, Scott and I enjoyed a nice dinner out, and then a spontaneous trip to Home Depot...and we got some new exterior Christmas décor! But more important was the time spent together. Plus, it started to snow, so the view from the restaurant was beautiful (but the drive home was a little sketchy.) On Tuesday night, Ava and I headed out to the Mall of America to experience the Malibu Barbie Café. We had a blast exploring the area, eating the yummy food, and then shopping for a bit. It was a wonderful night evening spent together. Even the drinks were pretty! My Avocado Toast & salad Ava's Paradise Pancakes On Friday night, my book club gathered for our holiday party and it was a blast! We had such a good time chatting, eating, drinking, and finished off the night with a book exchange. I cherish and deeply appreciate the friendships that have developed with my neighbors because of this book club. And to really kick off the holiday se

26 Hours in a Day

Just yesterday morning, I was thinking to myself that I could really use a few more hours each day.  We don't sleep a whole lot, both work long hours at our jobs, try to play with Ava as much as we can at night and on the weekends, and then we have to do all of the adult-stuff...paying bills, grocery shopping, cleaning, work on side jobs, house projects, etc.  If there were only 26 hours in a day, we could: *Sleep just an extra 30 minutes - we need it since the dogs have been waking us up each weekend day at 5:30am.  What could be SO urgent that they need to get us up then?!?  You'd think we only feed them once a week, or something. *Spend an extra hour with Ava...we could go to the park every night, take an extra long bath, read a few extra stories, and just enjoy the giggles and chattiness. *Take 30 minutes to talk to each other about how things are going.  With Scott leaving for work each day before 5am, and then all of the craziness that ensues when I get home at nigh
