Funny Girl

This has been a horrible week at work.  Nothing to do with the job itself, just technology related issues that have created chaos.  Therefore, I barely had time to breathe, eat, or relax.  How does this affect you?  It really shouldn't, but it means I have no pics to post this week.

However...Ava said some pretty darn funny things this week:

We were watching "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" earlier this week, and I heard a character say "Virtualizing!"  What's the next thing out of Ava's mouth?  "VIRTUALIZNG!"  I know I might be biased, but I think that's a pretty big word for a 2 year old to produce.

Same evening, but later, as we were giving her a bath, she looked at me, stuck her finger in her bum, and told me, "I'm taking my temp so I can have medicine!"  There are so many things wrong with that, on so many levels, that all I could respond with was a blank look, and a tiny giggle.  Note: she had been sick earlier in the week, so we had been taking her temp a lot.

Ava was playing with her Little People dollhouse, that somehow now has 1 daddy, 2 mommies, and 2 babies.  And a unicorn.  She looks at me and states, "Mommy needs to go in the trunk!"  We spent about 5 minutes trying to clarify if she was saying "trunk" or "truck".  She stuck with "trunk."  Not sure I like where this story was going.  When questioned again an hour later, she slyly looked at me and said, "Truck, Mommy, truck!"  All I know is that I'm not sleeping with both eyes closed anymore.

You might remember that we were decorating the house last weekend with those heart-shaped clings for the windows.  She's managed to tear two of the hearts in half.  So she walks one over to the trash and says "My heart broke.  I'm throwing it away."  Sigh.  This one made me a little sad.

And I finally got a question answered that popped up a few weeks ago.  I always thought Scooter was a boy (I realize he's not real...it's just easier to assign a gender to the purple cat), but last week Ava kept referring to Scooter as a girl.  This sorta changed everything that I knew about Scooter - and I wasn't okay with it.  Imagine my delight this morning when Scooter once again became a boy.  And then Ava told me she was a boy.  I told her that her daddy would be happy to hear that.  She then pranced away to get ready to go out tonight.  No way is she a boy.

Even though we're both busy, at least we get the chance to laugh at the funny things Ava says!

She is so cute! I love what a 2 year old comes up with and how their mind works. It gets a lot sneakier and tall-tailish as they become 4 ;-) I like the innocent of 2 years.

Ava might be happy to hear that the ear thermometers work great! :) I also just got the one that you swipe across their forehead but (thankfully) haven't needed it just yet.

Keep your eye on her whenever you are getting something out of your trunk!

Goodbye Sweet Spanky

This is a post that I'm not very excited to write.  As you probably know, our oldest dog, Spanky, had struggled with health issues (ear infections, seizures) his whole life, and recently, his health had severely deteriorated.  He hadn't been eating, his ear infection was so severe his face was swollen, he had a hard time getting up the stairs, and he very rarely wanted to play.  Last week we got a few tail wags from him, and he ate a few bowls of food, but it was a 50-50 chance that he would actually keep the food down. On Thursday, we made the decision that if he wasn't any better by this weekend, we were going to put him down.  I know Scott didn't want to make that decision as Spanky was a very special dog to him - he truly was his little buddy, following him around everywhere, wanting to be wherever Scott was, and howling his sadness whenever Scott would leave him. Throughout Friday night, it became clear that Spanky wasn't going to have a miraculous recovery...

Grandparents, Birthdays, and Sprinklers, Oh MY!

What a whirlwind week we've had...I was trying to get everything wrapped up at work so I could take my 5-day "furlough" from last Wednesday, through tomorrow. Wednesday was my first day at home, so Ava and I had a ton of "fun" getting everything ready for the upcoming activities. I did have a wonderful massage, so that started my vacation off very well... Gramma Karen and Grampa Doug drove in from KC on Wednesday afternoon. We had a great evening catching up, and enjoying the nice weather (until the downpour that happened right as they were leaving our house!) On Thursday, Scott, Dad, Mom, and I drove down to Cannon Falls and Rochester to check out the areas for potential future homes/land for us. At some point, we'd like to move south of the Cities. Ava was a very good little girl, especially considering that she was stuck in a car for most of her FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! We went to Applebee's for lunch, and the wait staff came out singing to someone else...I...

We're Baaaaack!

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 3 weeks since I've posted anything.  But, let's be honest - it's been a busy few weeks.  Clearly, I wasn't busy taking photos, as I only have 3 to show on this post.  Let's recap what's been going on in the Goers' household: New siding for our house...!  This is a project that we've been talking about doing for years, and we finally found someone that had the right product and the right price.  Our house is no longer a light peach color, it's Tuscan Clay with white accents.  It looks so shiny and fresh!  Now, we just need to work on our monster of a garage... I was in Palm Springs for eight, verrrrrry loooooong days.  I was staffing a travel program for one of my favorite clients, so at least I liked who I was supporting while there.  I hadn't traveled for work since May 2007, and honestly, I don't miss it.  I guess everything changes once you have a kid.  I missed Ava like crazy, and kept...
