Where Does the Time Go?

Both Scott and I had incredibly busy weeks at work this past week.  Add to that the snow storm and the icy roads, and I spent several hours in the car commuting each day.  Yuck!  The good news is that on the technology front, all of our equipment is in our hands!  My new camera broke (I mean, c'mon...seriously? It wasn't even a month old) so I had to exchange it this past week...my laptop was delivered earlier in the week...and our new TV was picked up yesterday morning.  My Christmas wish this year is that we can make it through the holidays without some weird, technology issue.

So all of this busy-ness, plus the hectic work schedules, and yucky commutes means that we didn't take a lot of pics of Ava this week.  Which may be a good thing...she was incredibly naughty at daycare, and I'm not sure if we would have been able to get a happy picture of her.  She was put in multiple time outs almost every day.  Not for biting anymore...oh no, she's moved onto pinching, and telling kids to "shut up!"  Sigh.  I asked Debi if she ever kicks kids out of daycare for bad behavior.  She reassured me and said no, that she never gives up on them.  So, neither will we!  Scott and I have both been VERY careful what we say around her...but, we're not exactly sure what constitutes "bad words" to kids...?  (We know the obvious ones...)

Here's the little stinker getting ready to go to daycare this past week:

She has the cutest pink and brown down jacket...she always looks so snuggly and warm in it!

We have Ava's 18-month photos this coming Saturday, so if this line isn't too long at the mall, we might try to squeeze in a Santa visit.  And last night, we went for an hour long drive around So St Paul and Inver Grove looking at all of the Christmas lights.  Almost 9 years ago, that's what Scott and I did on our first date, so it has extra special meaning for me.

Only 1.5 weeks before we drive down to KC for Ava's first Christmas with Gramma Karen and Grampa Doug.  I'm so excited!  I can't believe it's so close to the holidays already...where did 2009 go??

What a fun thing to do- to look at all the lights! And now you get to bring little Ava with you. Maybe all this cold weather just really made her crabby- poor girl! I hope she has a better week this week.

Goodbye Sweet Spanky

This is a post that I'm not very excited to write.  As you probably know, our oldest dog, Spanky, had struggled with health issues (ear infections, seizures) his whole life, and recently, his health had severely deteriorated.  He hadn't been eating, his ear infection was so severe his face was swollen, he had a hard time getting up the stairs, and he very rarely wanted to play.  Last week we got a few tail wags from him, and he ate a few bowls of food, but it was a 50-50 chance that he would actually keep the food down. On Thursday, we made the decision that if he wasn't any better by this weekend, we were going to put him down.  I know Scott didn't want to make that decision as Spanky was a very special dog to him - he truly was his little buddy, following him around everywhere, wanting to be wherever Scott was, and howling his sadness whenever Scott would leave him. Throughout Friday night, it became clear that Spanky wasn't going to have a miraculous recovery...

Grandparents, Birthdays, and Sprinklers, Oh MY!

What a whirlwind week we've had...I was trying to get everything wrapped up at work so I could take my 5-day "furlough" from last Wednesday, through tomorrow. Wednesday was my first day at home, so Ava and I had a ton of "fun" getting everything ready for the upcoming activities. I did have a wonderful massage, so that started my vacation off very well... Gramma Karen and Grampa Doug drove in from KC on Wednesday afternoon. We had a great evening catching up, and enjoying the nice weather (until the downpour that happened right as they were leaving our house!) On Thursday, Scott, Dad, Mom, and I drove down to Cannon Falls and Rochester to check out the areas for potential future homes/land for us. At some point, we'd like to move south of the Cities. Ava was a very good little girl, especially considering that she was stuck in a car for most of her FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! We went to Applebee's for lunch, and the wait staff came out singing to someone else...I...

We're Baaaaack!

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 3 weeks since I've posted anything.  But, let's be honest - it's been a busy few weeks.  Clearly, I wasn't busy taking photos, as I only have 3 to show on this post.  Let's recap what's been going on in the Goers' household: New siding for our house...!  This is a project that we've been talking about doing for years, and we finally found someone that had the right product and the right price.  Our house is no longer a light peach color, it's Tuscan Clay with white accents.  It looks so shiny and fresh!  Now, we just need to work on our monster of a garage... I was in Palm Springs for eight, verrrrrry loooooong days.  I was staffing a travel program for one of my favorite clients, so at least I liked who I was supporting while there.  I hadn't traveled for work since May 2007, and honestly, I don't miss it.  I guess everything changes once you have a kid.  I missed Ava like crazy, and kept...
