And Where Did August Go??

This last month has been hectic! The weekdays and weekends have been full of activities (most of them RHSMB-related), and then by the time that we had a chance to breathe, I had picked up a cold, which sapped my energy. So here we are, a month since my last post. And here are a lot of random pics!

Enjoying a lovely July morning on the deck, with a chai

Tasty lemonades for me and G

Enjoying a local park!

My cherry tomato plant has done so well this summer! This was the first one that I picked.

More cherry tomatoes! My roma tomato has produced some fruit, but not as many...there are a ton of green ones on there, but some of them have blossom rot :(

G and I went to see Superman!

I don't like the Smurfs. So, ofc he had to pose in front of the backdrop.

Pria doing Pria things

Then we did some band stuff, lol!

My mom and I picked Arya up at the end of band camp, and saw them perform for the first time this season!

Banished to the basement during a storm at band camp!

The next morning, we staked out a great spot for the Leprechaun Days parade. Arya is marching below!

Cooling off with a margarita after a long night of drill week dinner

Silly G

Love watching the band as the sun goes down...

I took a bunch of friends and family to see the Party Animals at CHS Field! It was an AMAZING night!

Tanner Thomas #4...my fave!

It was a packed stadium, and we had great seats!

PAs win!

Back at it to see Bad Guys 2! Such a good movie!

Arya decided to pre-apply to UWRF, as they would give an admittance decision within 48 hours...she was accepted!

Then we spent two weekends very busy with the Rosemount Band garage sale. We focused on the holiday/seasonal section, but here's just a small sampling of the books!

Taking a break to smell the roses

And back one more time at the movies...with Arya to see Freakier Friday!

Enjoyed a sun shower

We just wrapped up Arya's final performance in the MN State Fair parade this past week. The RHSMB is always the first "act" in the parade, on the first day, so ofc we have to support them! Earlier in the day, they also performed on TV, where it was announced that they are going back to the Rose Parade in January 2027 - they were explicitly asked to apply again!!

Arya will have graduated by that point, so she won't get to travel, but I look at it as paying it forward...she was able to be in the Rose Parade as a freshman because of the band before her. She was a little teary-eyed when the directors specifically thanked the seniors for their leadership and improvement on the field this year. Hard to believe it's coming to an end!

Waiting for their live TV performance to start

Blu beer with a topper!

Peeping the band from the Skyride!

Hot and tired, and happy to be on the bus ride home!

Then we did a final walkthrough in prep for G's first day at middle school this week!

Arya got her official "You're accepted!" notification from UWRF!

Sleepy girl

So that's what we've been up to for the last month! School starts this Wednesday...can't believe it's Arya's senior year, and G's first year at RMS! Both Scott and I are also really busy at work, so these days are flying by.

Goodbye Sweet Spanky

This is a post that I'm not very excited to write.  As you probably know, our oldest dog, Spanky, had struggled with health issues (ear infections, seizures) his whole life, and recently, his health had severely deteriorated.  He hadn't been eating, his ear infection was so severe his face was swollen, he had a hard time getting up the stairs, and he very rarely wanted to play.  Last week we got a few tail wags from him, and he ate a few bowls of food, but it was a 50-50 chance that he would actually keep the food down. On Thursday, we made the decision that if he wasn't any better by this weekend, we were going to put him down.  I know Scott didn't want to make that decision as Spanky was a very special dog to him - he truly was his little buddy, following him around everywhere, wanting to be wherever Scott was, and howling his sadness whenever Scott would leave him. Throughout Friday night, it became clear that Spanky wasn't going to have a miraculous recovery...

Grandparents, Birthdays, and Sprinklers, Oh MY!

What a whirlwind week we've had...I was trying to get everything wrapped up at work so I could take my 5-day "furlough" from last Wednesday, through tomorrow. Wednesday was my first day at home, so Ava and I had a ton of "fun" getting everything ready for the upcoming activities. I did have a wonderful massage, so that started my vacation off very well... Gramma Karen and Grampa Doug drove in from KC on Wednesday afternoon. We had a great evening catching up, and enjoying the nice weather (until the downpour that happened right as they were leaving our house!) On Thursday, Scott, Dad, Mom, and I drove down to Cannon Falls and Rochester to check out the areas for potential future homes/land for us. At some point, we'd like to move south of the Cities. Ava was a very good little girl, especially considering that she was stuck in a car for most of her FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! We went to Applebee's for lunch, and the wait staff came out singing to someone else...I...

The Early Bird

I realized that I skipped a chunk of pictures that I wanted to share...things were super busy last weekend, so we'll blame my lapse of memory on that! The focus was so much on Ava's party, that I neglected to share the family birthday photos, too. Two weeks ago, we invited all of the grandparents over for a wonderful dinner of smoked prime rib (and other yummy sides), and then topped it off with a raspberry mojito birthday cake for the newly minted eight-year-old. We like to experiment with different birthday cake flavors for her birthday, and this one was MUCH better than the watermelon cake from last year (gross-gross-gross!)      Saying cheese with Grandpa Doug! G and I took a break from the present pics to take some selfies ;) Even his cars made an appearance! Super excited to be receiving an aquascope! And no birthday is complete without something from American Girl - this time is was a pizza party set - awesome! We have also...
