Happy #17!

Last Saturday, Scott and I were able to get away for a few hours and celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary. We were both pretty wiped out from the long day, so it was a low-key celebration, but it was nice to get out and try a new restaurant. We knew that G was having a blast with Grandma Deb, and Ava was out with a friend (after the Rosemount HSMB festival), so we didn't need to rush to get home. I cannot believe we've been married for 17 years already! The time has flown by, and when I made that comment to Scott last week, his very sweet response was, "It hasn't been long enough." Awww... 💙

But, leading up to that evening, Ava and I were at RHS for most of the day. The RHSMB hosted their annual festival, where 16 other bands from MN and neighboring states performed their 2022 show. Since Rosemount was the host, they didn't compete, but performed in exhibition. So, no stress for high scores!

I didn't really see Ava during the festival, but I know she was working her booty off in rehearsal and in performance. I had one of the best views possible...I was on top of the press box! My original job that I had signed up for changed a bit, and I ended up helping to video the performances. It was pretty amazing being at the highest point on the home side. We pulled up a few chairs, and had the loudspeakers right behind us. I wasn't even sure how to get up there until they showed me the ladder from the inside of the press box. Crazy! But, the stands were packed, so to have a seat where I could stretch out and walk around was special. It did get a little breezy and cool, but worth it!

Rosemount is starting to enter the field for their show - the stands are packed!

Hiking back to my car, with Ava's uniform and backpack, so she could hang out with friends (that stuff is heavy!)

We had a few slower nights this week, which was fantastic! Things ramped up again near the end of the week, with big plans happening this weekend. Scott was going to head out of town for the weekend, G was going to hang out with my parents on Friday night, while I was at a happy hour with friends, and Ava had another marching band competition scheduled. G and I had lots of fun activities planned for Saturday, including lunch at Noodles, a trip to the Dollar Tree (his fave), ending with a visit to the planetarium in St Paul.

And then things came to a screeching halt on Friday morning. Scott's best friend's family wasn't feeling well, so he decided to stay home (great!) And then I noticed that G had some nasal congestion, so I decided to give him a COVID test, assuming that it would be negative. Wrong! Little guy picked up COVID somewhere, so our plans shifted rapidly.

Ava and I both tested negative, so she's still doing all the marching band things this weekend, but I stayed home from everything, and banished G to the guest room. He is doing just fine...only a runny/stuffy nose. No fever, coughing, headache, etc. And he's quite happy, but perhaps a little bored, in the guest room. Assuming his case remains mild, he'll get to go back to school on Thursday. Keep him in your thoughts!

Head hugs from Ava!

Faint, but it's there!

Staying at home gave me a chance to watch a movie, finish up watching a virtual conference, and get caught up on things around the house. We won't see Ava again until probably close to midnight, so we're going to have a few quiet dinners without both kiddos. Weird!

Snuggly Warm

It's the time of year to be cozy, so there's nothing better than sitting in front of a warm fire, reading a good book/watching a good show, and enjoying the glow of the Christmas tree. Even Pria thinks so! Pria was avoiding the vacuum earlier this week...she loves to be on Ava's bed! Getting cozy inside of a little fortress After a fairly busy week at school, work, and extracurricular activities, we all enjoyed a night at home on Friday. G and I built gingerbread houses (they both look a little sad, but we had fun), and then we all played Tractoropoly for a few hours. Turns out that G was stockpiling money, so we need to figure out his secret on how to save! Love Ava's face and hand placement here And we can't forget all of the treats that George brought this week! Sunday, December 10 "Can you get a bullseye?" Monday, December 11 "I'm brining Christmas Cheer, by singing loud for everyone to hear!" Tuesday, December 12 "Don't be the o

Barbie & George

We had a fun week to wrap up November. Last Saturday, Scott and I enjoyed a nice dinner out, and then a spontaneous trip to Home Depot...and we got some new exterior Christmas décor! But more important was the time spent together. Plus, it started to snow, so the view from the restaurant was beautiful (but the drive home was a little sketchy.) On Tuesday night, Ava and I headed out to the Mall of America to experience the Malibu Barbie Café. We had a blast exploring the area, eating the yummy food, and then shopping for a bit. It was a wonderful night evening spent together. Even the drinks were pretty! My Avocado Toast & salad Ava's Paradise Pancakes On Friday night, my book club gathered for our holiday party and it was a blast! We had such a good time chatting, eating, drinking, and finished off the night with a book exchange. I cherish and deeply appreciate the friendships that have developed with my neighbors because of this book club. And to really kick off the holiday se

26 Hours in a Day

Just yesterday morning, I was thinking to myself that I could really use a few more hours each day.  We don't sleep a whole lot, both work long hours at our jobs, try to play with Ava as much as we can at night and on the weekends, and then we have to do all of the adult-stuff...paying bills, grocery shopping, cleaning, work on side jobs, house projects, etc.  If there were only 26 hours in a day, we could: *Sleep just an extra 30 minutes - we need it since the dogs have been waking us up each weekend day at 5:30am.  What could be SO urgent that they need to get us up then?!?  You'd think we only feed them once a week, or something. *Spend an extra hour with Ava...we could go to the park every night, take an extra long bath, read a few extra stories, and just enjoy the giggles and chattiness. *Take 30 minutes to talk to each other about how things are going.  With Scott leaving for work each day before 5am, and then all of the craziness that ensues when I get home at nigh
