Fourteen!

It was a good week! G is trying his very best to have green days at school, and Ava's doing an awesome job at completing her homework right after school each day - plus she has all A's in her classes right now, including math, which has always been a challenge for her.

This school thing is tiring G out...

I spent a full day/evening in downtown Minneapolis this past Wednesday, for the first Digital Product Summit for my company. We had fantastic speakers from Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and a variety of other large business in the local area. I learned a lot, met many new people at Patterson, and enjoyed the change of pace from being in the office. Can't wait for next year's event!

Scott and I also celebrated our anniversary this week...fourteen years of marriage - wow! Just like any marriage, we've had both high and low points, but are grateful that we are together. Since our anniversary was on a Tuesday, we weren't able to get out for a nice dinner, but we had a chance to enjoy an adult-dinner out last night. We both had a great meal and enjoyed the atmosphere at Hazelwood by the MoA. Yum! A big thanks to my mom and dad for taking the kids out to dinner and keeping them entertained for a few hours!

Hello, 2005!

Lovely flowers from Scott for our special day!

Full from our great dinner at Hazelwood

We had wanted to head to an apple orchard today, but it's gray, drizzly, and messy outside, so...instead we went out for a family breakfast and spent some time shopping. We found a new bike for Ava, which she's excited about. She's at that age where she's moving into the adult version of items...shoes, clothes, etc. No more little kid bike for her!

Goodbye Sweet Spanky

This is a post that I'm not very excited to write.  As you probably know, our oldest dog, Spanky, had struggled with health issues (ear infections, seizures) his whole life, and recently, his health had severely deteriorated.  He hadn't been eating, his ear infection was so severe his face was swollen, he had a hard time getting up the stairs, and he very rarely wanted to play.  Last week we got a few tail wags from him, and he ate a few bowls of food, but it was a 50-50 chance that he would actually keep the food down. On Thursday, we made the decision that if he wasn't any better by this weekend, we were going to put him down.  I know Scott didn't want to make that decision as Spanky was a very special dog to him - he truly was his little buddy, following him around everywhere, wanting to be wherever Scott was, and howling his sadness whenever Scott would leave him. Throughout Friday night, it became clear that Spanky wasn't going to have a miraculous recovery...

Grandparents, Birthdays, and Sprinklers, Oh MY!

What a whirlwind week we've had...I was trying to get everything wrapped up at work so I could take my 5-day "furlough" from last Wednesday, through tomorrow. Wednesday was my first day at home, so Ava and I had a ton of "fun" getting everything ready for the upcoming activities. I did have a wonderful massage, so that started my vacation off very well... Gramma Karen and Grampa Doug drove in from KC on Wednesday afternoon. We had a great evening catching up, and enjoying the nice weather (until the downpour that happened right as they were leaving our house!) On Thursday, Scott, Dad, Mom, and I drove down to Cannon Falls and Rochester to check out the areas for potential future homes/land for us. At some point, we'd like to move south of the Cities. Ava was a very good little girl, especially considering that she was stuck in a car for most of her FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! We went to Applebee's for lunch, and the wait staff came out singing to someone else...I...

We're Baaaaack!

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 3 weeks since I've posted anything.  But, let's be honest - it's been a busy few weeks.  Clearly, I wasn't busy taking photos, as I only have 3 to show on this post.  Let's recap what's been going on in the Goers' household: New siding for our house...!  This is a project that we've been talking about doing for years, and we finally found someone that had the right product and the right price.  Our house is no longer a light peach color, it's Tuscan Clay with white accents.  It looks so shiny and fresh!  Now, we just need to work on our monster of a garage... I was in Palm Springs for eight, verrrrrry loooooong days.  I was staffing a travel program for one of my favorite clients, so at least I liked who I was supporting while there.  I hadn't traveled for work since May 2007, and honestly, I don't miss it.  I guess everything changes once you have a kid.  I missed Ava like crazy, and kept...
