These are a few of my favorite things...!

One of Ava's birthday presents was a cute outdoor chair from Grandma Deb and Grandpa Whitey. However, it has been on back order for several months, and it finally showed up this week. It's got an attachable umbrella plus TWO storage pockets for all of the things a toddler on-the-go might need...and she loves it!

She also loves to play with the dogs' outdoor water bowl, as well as Spanky's tennis ball. I try to remember to dump the bowl out before she gets to it, but every once in a while, she ends up getting soaked!

Ava's also a big fan of books...here she's running around holding a book about a sleepy beagle (how appropriate.) I'm hoping that she'll enjoy reading as much as I do!

And when she tires of books, she likes to pick up my shoes and carry them around. Yesterday, she opened our closet door, took out my orange shoes, closed the door, and proceeded to run around with them. Ava might end up loving shoes...just like her Gramma Karen!

For some reason she likes to sit on the doggies' mat (where the indoor water bowl resides when Ava isn't running around)...and hold my Teva. And sometimes chew on it. We're trying to break that habit...yuck!

Scott and I bought her an indoor chair her birthday - she's been a climbing monkey the last few weeks, and she loves to stand on this chair, beat the window, and squeal. Here she's just kicking back, relaxing from a hard day at daycare!

Scott thought it would be cute to put her into one of his shirts and let her walk around. And actually, it was pretty funny! Luckily, she didn't trip over it...however, she did figure out how to get out of it pretty quickly!

Ava was riding her pony this morning and reading the paper at the same time. It's what every girl needs to know how to do by the time she's 1!

I've been off of work since July 31, and I had Ava at home for 2 of those days - we had so much fun hanging out and playing! The rest of the time, she was at daycare, and I caught up on a ton of projects at home. The biggest accomplishment was finishing Ava's first year scrapbook - yeah! One more thing I can check off of my 2009 resolution list!

The only bad thing that happened this week is that Ava took a nose-dive from her new outdoor chair, right into the concrete patio. She scraped up her nose, had a nice fat lip, and bled a bit. I know that this is all part of growing up, but it still made me feel bad. It also made me stock up our medicine cabinet a bit! Now we're ready for anything!

Another good thing to have: Neo-to-Go in your purse/diaper bag. I haven't had to use it yet- but it was recommended to me by another experienced mom! LOVE the lawn chair- and she's so cute sitting in her easy chair. Dylan tried to chew on my Tevas too. I don't know what it is about those things...

Exploring Local Places

Last Sunday was the perfect day to explore an area that neither Arya nor I had been to before. We headed east to walk around the Vermillion Falls/River and Greenway area. The path was nicely paved, with lots of overhead shade from trees; there were so many families out on bikes and walking, and we had a nice view of the Vermillion River. Arya got some great pics, and I enjoyed spending time outdoors with my sweet girl. This weekend, G and I will be heading out to explore a creek area in a few towns just south of us. And I've already got an idea for another creek I want to walk by next month (it's a bit further away, and I'd rather put that aside until Arya is off at college) The tree leans to find the sun On the way home, we stopped at the DQ in another town (we have a love/hate relationship with the DQ in our town, so I wanted to avoid it.) What a Week

The weather has been unseasonably warm this fall, so we've been able to extend our outdoor projects just a bit. This past week Scott's been working in the garden, cleaning everything out, and repairing the back wall of our garage. Ava was such a good little helper, scooping up dirt, but still trying to keep her hands clean while doing it! I swear, a box is all she needs to make her happy. Princess Darla. We went down to Grand Meadow this weekend, and as always, it was so fun to see Ava and Isabel play together. They actually had several little conversations with each other - and they were so polite while doing so! We even had them share a room last night...boy, that was a challenge. Preparing for Vacation

We had a low key week, which is rare in this house. Oh sure, there were fun field trips at Summer Power, a visit to the splash pad on a hot day, and a few crazy, rain storms, but it was an easy week. Well, there was that one time when we were out for dinner with G (Ava was with Grandma Karen and Grandpa Doug for an overnight stay and a trip to the Dakota County Fair - fun!) and G decided to hide behind my chair and puke all over me and the floor (at the restaurant.) Ugh. The good news is that he was just too full of chocolate milk...no illness! A quiet week, once in a while, is an okay thing! We're starting to prep for our vacation to the Wisconsin Dells...we don't take too many family vacations, so this is a big event for us. (Funny, I took a break from writing this post as Scott just asked me about planning a trip to Disney...we were debating the differences between going to California vs. Florida...pros and cons to each!)
