A New Toy!

Scott and I have finally had a chance to slow down and take a few minutes for ourselves these past few days. I realized that we hadn't cleaned/assembled the Jumperoo from Scott's cousin Josh. I washed everything up, and made sure it was at the right height for her. She seemed to like it better today than yesterday.

OMG! What IS this thing?? HOLD ON!

Oh, this "thing" has toys, so it can't be that bad. I guess.

The next project is to assemble her Exer-saucer. My question is, "Where are we going to put all of these HUGE toys??"

We're looking forward to this week - lots of big things are happening. Ava will go to her 4-month well baby visit, and she'll be getting the next round of vaccines. Hooray. I'll be sure to post how big she's getting.

We also have a Halloween party at her daycare on Thursday. We'll be bringing fruit snacks for the kids. However, we'll need to buy a new box of fruit snacks, as Mommy attacked the original box this weekend. Superman has kryptonite; Mommy has fruit snacks. :)

And on Halloween night, we'll be going to great-grandma's house for a birthday party, so we'll be able to spend some time with Scott's family.
Have a great week!

That's funny you posted about the jumperoo! I just took Dylan's out of the box and put it together and he LOVES it! His is a horse and he likes to play with the mane. I'll have to post photos. Ava's 3 month photos are so cute!! What a smile! I haven't printed any of Dylan's yet, but I will be sure to share them. Hope the vaccinations go well this week.

Goodbye Sweet Spanky

This is a post that I'm not very excited to write.  As you probably know, our oldest dog, Spanky, had struggled with health issues (ear infections, seizures) his whole life, and recently, his health had severely deteriorated.  He hadn't been eating, his ear infection was so severe his face was swollen, he had a hard time getting up the stairs, and he very rarely wanted to play.  Last week we got a few tail wags from him, and he ate a few bowls of food, but it was a 50-50 chance that he would actually keep the food down. On Thursday, we made the decision that if he wasn't any better by this weekend, we were going to put him down.  I know Scott didn't want to make that decision as Spanky was a very special dog to him - he truly was his little buddy, following him around everywhere, wanting to be wherever Scott was, and howling his sadness whenever Scott would leave him. Throughout Friday night, it became clear that Spanky wasn't going to have a miraculous recovery...

Grandparents, Birthdays, and Sprinklers, Oh MY!

What a whirlwind week we've had...I was trying to get everything wrapped up at work so I could take my 5-day "furlough" from last Wednesday, through tomorrow. Wednesday was my first day at home, so Ava and I had a ton of "fun" getting everything ready for the upcoming activities. I did have a wonderful massage, so that started my vacation off very well... Gramma Karen and Grampa Doug drove in from KC on Wednesday afternoon. We had a great evening catching up, and enjoying the nice weather (until the downpour that happened right as they were leaving our house!) On Thursday, Scott, Dad, Mom, and I drove down to Cannon Falls and Rochester to check out the areas for potential future homes/land for us. At some point, we'd like to move south of the Cities. Ava was a very good little girl, especially considering that she was stuck in a car for most of her FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! We went to Applebee's for lunch, and the wait staff came out singing to someone else...I...

Happily Ever After?

Lately, I've been adding to the Disney Princess movies in our collection.  Last week I bought Beauty and the Beast for Ava.  That was never a favorite movie of mine, but now that I've seen it several times in the last week, it's growing on me.  I figure this is a good chance for me to catch up on some of the stories that I missed out on! Watching all of these princess movies has me thinking about fairy tales...why is it that it's always the evil stepMOTHER?  Or the mom is dead, and no one has taken her place?  Very rarely is it the father who is evil, or dead.  This has actually come up as a topic in more than one conversation lately, and has me a bit intrigued.  Fairy tales are often not very happy - and usually someone dies at some point.  I was a giving an overview of Snow White to a friend of mine, and as I was going through the story, both of us were horrified at the message - mom dies, evil stepmother wants to murder her pretty stepdaugh...
