School Supplies

Lots of activity over the last few weeks...every night we've had something going on, so you'll have to excuse the fact that I don't have many pics of Ava.  But, we HAVE been having a lot of fun!

Last weekend, Scott was out of town, so Ava and I had a great girl's weekend.  On Friday night, we picked up pizza from the new Little Caesars (yum!), watched the opening ceremonies for the Olympics, and had some popcorn with gummy sharks!  This was a pretty exciting night for both of us, and the perfect way to end the busy week.  The next day, we went to the splash pool in town, and had a blast cooling off - I was surprised that it wasn't very busy, but I'm not complaining!  That night I let Ava choose a movie, and we relaxed on the couch and enjoyed some more mommy/daughter time.

When Scott got home the next day, I headed out to go to my first Twins game at Target Field, with my friend Emilie.  We had a GREAT time, even though it was REALLY hot.  And I mean HOT.  Like meltdown hot.  I don't remember much of the game (I do know the Twins won) as I was doing everything I could to stay cool.  We took the light rail back home, and I honestly thought I was going to pass out from the heat.  Hot!

My friends: Chris and Emilie

This double serving of Lemon Chill was great, but...it made both of us a bit sick after we ate it so fast!

Two HOT ladies!

This past Monday, the three of us checked out a new preschool that's opening this fall.  It's right here in SSP, and it looks great!  We've loved having Ava go to Debi's house for the last four years - she has an amazing level of patience, and we love everything that she has done for Ava.  However, we decided to put Ava in full-time preschool for the next year, so she'll no longer be attending daycare in the neighborhood.  I have mixed feelings about this, but overall, I'm super excited for Ava to be in a classroom environment, with so many kids her same age.  I think the classroom setting will be great prep for Kindergarten next year.  As a bonus, we get to buy school supplies!  I don't know why that makes me so happy, but I'm just thrilled to do that!  Ava's asking me about going to preschool already, so although we will all miss Debi, I know we're happy to have this new opportunity for her.

This past Friday kicked off a few months worth of wedding activities for us...we have 4 weddings to go to between now and November. It's odd...we haven't had a run of weddings like this in years!  To help celebrate, we attended a bachelorette party for my friend Renae.  It was a great way to kick off this weekend, even though I'm still tired (I didn't get home until 2:30a.m., which is way too late for this old girl.)

The BI work girls at the bachelorette party...Alyssa, Kelli, and Tawynia

Dee, Emilie, and Lacy

Lacy, Renae (the bride), and um...two girls...I don't remember their names

We each had dares to perform at the bar...Renae just finished hers (it involved the bartender) and she looks quite pleased with herself!

My dare was to find a guy with a floral print shirt, and do the hula with him.  As soon as I said, "Where am I going to find that?!?" in walked Gunnar (behind me), his two sons and their friend.  Let's just say I was the first one done with my dare!

Nothing classier than a self portrait taken in the bathroom.  But it was a cute one, so why not?

We also had an open house this afternoon, and were able to spend a few hours with Grandma Deb and Grandpa Whitey.  We had five groups come through, and then had a great chat with our realtor.  We may drop the price just a bit, but not too much.  We've had quite a few hits from people looking at our house online, but just haven't found that one buyer yet that this house belongs to.  Although, the woman that Scott bought this house from 12 years ago, came through during the open house today...she knows someone is in the market!  I'd love to know what she thinks about all of the changes we have made to this place...it was definitely a different house when Scott bought it!

My lone picture of Ava from the past week...Grandma and Grandpa gave her an adorable dress and barettes, so she's modeling (kinda) them for us!

I'm hoping this coming week is a bit slower than the past few...the weather was gorgeous today, and I'd love it if we could actually have a chance to enjoy it after dinner in the next few days.  Before we know it, winter is going to be here!

Last summer I had to take kids on the HOTTEST day of the entire summer and we were about 3 rows from the top. So sweaty. I ate one of those lemon chills & then noticed how much sugar was in them and was grossed out. But it was necessary!! Funny because I also went on the coldest game of the year last year. I prefer that.

Snuggly Warm

It's the time of year to be cozy, so there's nothing better than sitting in front of a warm fire, reading a good book/watching a good show, and enjoying the glow of the Christmas tree. Even Pria thinks so! Pria was avoiding the vacuum earlier this week...she loves to be on Ava's bed! Getting cozy inside of a little fortress After a fairly busy week at school, work, and extracurricular activities, we all enjoyed a night at home on Friday. G and I built gingerbread houses (they both look a little sad, but we had fun), and then we all played Tractoropoly for a few hours. Turns out that G was stockpiling money, so we need to figure out his secret on how to save! Love Ava's face and hand placement here And we can't forget all of the treats that George brought this week! Sunday, December 10 "Can you get a bullseye?" Monday, December 11 "I'm brining Christmas Cheer, by singing loud for everyone to hear!" Tuesday, December 12 "Don't be the o

Barbie & George

We had a fun week to wrap up November. Last Saturday, Scott and I enjoyed a nice dinner out, and then a spontaneous trip to Home Depot...and we got some new exterior Christmas décor! But more important was the time spent together. Plus, it started to snow, so the view from the restaurant was beautiful (but the drive home was a little sketchy.) On Tuesday night, Ava and I headed out to the Mall of America to experience the Malibu Barbie Café. We had a blast exploring the area, eating the yummy food, and then shopping for a bit. It was a wonderful night evening spent together. Even the drinks were pretty! My Avocado Toast & salad Ava's Paradise Pancakes On Friday night, my book club gathered for our holiday party and it was a blast! We had such a good time chatting, eating, drinking, and finished off the night with a book exchange. I cherish and deeply appreciate the friendships that have developed with my neighbors because of this book club. And to really kick off the holiday se

26 Hours in a Day

Just yesterday morning, I was thinking to myself that I could really use a few more hours each day.  We don't sleep a whole lot, both work long hours at our jobs, try to play with Ava as much as we can at night and on the weekends, and then we have to do all of the adult-stuff...paying bills, grocery shopping, cleaning, work on side jobs, house projects, etc.  If there were only 26 hours in a day, we could: *Sleep just an extra 30 minutes - we need it since the dogs have been waking us up each weekend day at 5:30am.  What could be SO urgent that they need to get us up then?!?  You'd think we only feed them once a week, or something. *Spend an extra hour with Ava...we could go to the park every night, take an extra long bath, read a few extra stories, and just enjoy the giggles and chattiness. *Take 30 minutes to talk to each other about how things are going.  With Scott leaving for work each day before 5am, and then all of the craziness that ensues when I get home at nigh
