Cookies for Days!

As we get closer to Christmas, the more focused we are on doing fun, holiday activities. The remaining bucket list items are shrinking each day, and yes, it's stressful for me, but I'm hopeful that my family is able to enjoy the moments, and will remember the memories that we're making during these busy times!

Let's catch you up on the Adventures of George...

Day 6: December 5
"Go, Santa, Go!"

Day 7: December 6
"Wanna play cards?"

Day 8: December 7
"Tetherball Champion"
also...neither kid knew what tetherball was, so that was fun to explain...

Day 9: December 8
Hanging out in the floatie...we used the "magical glove" to move George onto the floatie, after we determined he wasn't going to sink!

Day 10: December 9
"Up, Up, and Away!"
(hard to tell, but George is hanging from a candy cane balloon)

Day 11: December 10
"Let's shuffle"
Another game that I still don't know how to explain to the kids...but this is a cute little set that they can actually play with!

Day 12: December 11
"Let's bake cookies!"

And we do like to follow George's suggestions, as long as it's not random games to play. So...we baked cookies on Saturday with Grandma Karen. We've had this tradition for the last several years (but we had to skip 2020, obviously), so it was nice to re-start this. Usually my mom makes/bakes the sugar cookies, but this year, we decided to let someone else do the work, and I picked up a sugar cookie set from a local baker. It was super easy, and I like supporting my neighbors!

Clockwise, L-R: Sugar cookies, chocolate peppermint kisses, fudge, gooey butter cookies...so good!

And just in case we didn't have enough sweets...I also picked up Gingerbread Men decorating kits, and on Wednesday after school, the kids and I each decorated a fancy, gingerbread man. So, between these and the new Christmas cookies we made on Saturday, we're going to be eating sweets for a really long time! AND, we also received some amazing black & white cookies from my Aunt Steph, so yet another tasty goodie to enjoy!

This one is mine!

Our town in Minnesota received 18" of snow in the last 30 hours, and we were ready for it! Scott picked up his plow and helped plow out several driveways for people. He's so generous with his time, and people really appreciate how much it helps them with this back-breaking work.

Before the snow...

On Friday night, G and I headed over to a neighbor's house, and we had a pizza party for the moms and kids. The snow was coming down so hard, but it was nice to be able to just walk to a friends house and hang out, while we all had a chance to catch up. Everyone had a blast! G couldn't wait to get up and play in the snow, so on Saturday morning, he went outside almost before the sun came up.

Ava met up with a bunch of friends on Saturday afternoon and went sledding...we love how she's getting out and doing fun stuff with friends this year!

We took a break from decorating Christmas cookies and enjoyed Santa coming through our neighborhood on a fire truck. Fun!

And just in case we didn't squeeze in enough fun things this week...check these out!

Second week of advent is wrapping up...we're getting closer!

Ava earned her THIRD gold belt stripe on Thursday night...so awesome!

Yes, G still does TKD, too...he just doesn't practice as much as Ava does, so he isn't progressing as fast.

Both kids received their letters from Santa on Friday morning...G was so excited to see that Santa knew how much he loves Waddles the Pig from Gravity Falls!

Party Llama is happy to help me with laundry, but G is not!

I think we're all going to be super tired tonight (Saturday), so we are going to take it easy and chill. G has a birthday party to attend on Sunday afternoon so it'll be a little chaos, but another few hours of fun!

Snuggly Warm

It's the time of year to be cozy, so there's nothing better than sitting in front of a warm fire, reading a good book/watching a good show, and enjoying the glow of the Christmas tree. Even Pria thinks so! Pria was avoiding the vacuum earlier this week...she loves to be on Ava's bed! Getting cozy inside of a little fortress After a fairly busy week at school, work, and extracurricular activities, we all enjoyed a night at home on Friday. G and I built gingerbread houses (they both look a little sad, but we had fun), and then we all played Tractoropoly for a few hours. Turns out that G was stockpiling money, so we need to figure out his secret on how to save! Love Ava's face and hand placement here And we can't forget all of the treats that George brought this week! Sunday, December 10 "Can you get a bullseye?" Monday, December 11 "I'm brining Christmas Cheer, by singing loud for everyone to hear!" Tuesday, December 12 "Don't be the o

Barbie & George

We had a fun week to wrap up November. Last Saturday, Scott and I enjoyed a nice dinner out, and then a spontaneous trip to Home Depot...and we got some new exterior Christmas décor! But more important was the time spent together. Plus, it started to snow, so the view from the restaurant was beautiful (but the drive home was a little sketchy.) On Tuesday night, Ava and I headed out to the Mall of America to experience the Malibu Barbie Café. We had a blast exploring the area, eating the yummy food, and then shopping for a bit. It was a wonderful night evening spent together. Even the drinks were pretty! My Avocado Toast & salad Ava's Paradise Pancakes On Friday night, my book club gathered for our holiday party and it was a blast! We had such a good time chatting, eating, drinking, and finished off the night with a book exchange. I cherish and deeply appreciate the friendships that have developed with my neighbors because of this book club. And to really kick off the holiday se

26 Hours in a Day

Just yesterday morning, I was thinking to myself that I could really use a few more hours each day.  We don't sleep a whole lot, both work long hours at our jobs, try to play with Ava as much as we can at night and on the weekends, and then we have to do all of the adult-stuff...paying bills, grocery shopping, cleaning, work on side jobs, house projects, etc.  If there were only 26 hours in a day, we could: *Sleep just an extra 30 minutes - we need it since the dogs have been waking us up each weekend day at 5:30am.  What could be SO urgent that they need to get us up then?!?  You'd think we only feed them once a week, or something. *Spend an extra hour with Ava...we could go to the park every night, take an extra long bath, read a few extra stories, and just enjoy the giggles and chattiness. *Take 30 minutes to talk to each other about how things are going.  With Scott leaving for work each day before 5am, and then all of the craziness that ensues when I get home at nigh
