Indy 2024

What a whirlwind the last few weeks have been! The 2024 marching band season is officially wrapped up, and we're getting a taste of normalcy back in our lives. The RHSMB had their community send off on Sunday, November 10, and there was a great turnout. The kids did a wonderful job, even though it was chilly outside. The best part is the senior run through, where only the seniors perform the full show...it's fun, awesome, and usually hilarious. The one lone tuba player had quite a cheering section from the other tubas in the stands. Gotta love that support! Community Send Off (before the band took to the field) Ava, my mom, and I all headed to Indy on Thursday, November 14 (Ava by motor coach, Mom and I by air.) We didn't really see Ava in the 4 days that we were there, but I loved knowing that we were only blocks apart for much of the time. It was really fun traveling with this group - we saw lots of people we knew, and had fun chatting with other parents. Day 1: Thursday,...

Reflections

It's been a rough week, so we're going to focus on some of the positives. G has been enjoying wearing his new ushanka hat while doing random things around the house...like playing VR! A few friends and I gathered, with our children, to watch the election results come in on Tuesday night. Without hesitation, I can say the food and company was top-notch. Look at these adorable cookies that were made for our get-together! Ava needed some extra snuggles and cuddles this week. Same, Ava, same. The RHSMB begins a 29-hour block of rehearsals over a 5-day span. They're getting ready to head out to Indy for Grand Nats next week! I bundled up and watched them rehearse on Thursday night. It was pretty chilly, and I can only imagine how cold the kids were. It's hunting (gun) opener this weekend, so Scott headed south to see if he could find some deer (and also to spend time with a friend.) Ava's busy with rehearsal all weekend, so G and I have been hanging out and keeping busy....

11!

Our little guy turned 11 this week! He had a fantastic time at his birthday sleepover party last Friday night, and then on Tuesday, he rang in the big ONE ONE! He chose a dinner of spooky nuggets and mac & cheese, and he ate so much he didn't have room for cake! But, Ava and I had some and it was goood. Last night as a ten year-old! Rolled up like a burrito (not sure why) Finally, 11! He's been patiently waiting for this LEGO set since March! Halloween was, of course, this week, as well. G went out trick-or-treating with a few neighborhood friends. He was a Ghostbuster, and his friends were a version of Taylor Swift, and a clown. They went without a parent this year, which was a first for all of us. So, the two other moms (the "Kristins") and I hung out at a Kristin's house, and chatted, while the kids were out braving the cold. Ava and Aaron stayed at our house, made mochi (for Ava's Chinese class), and helped Scott hand out candy. In the end the mochi tu...
