Hillbillies and Trombones

We have made great progress on the #2 potty training! G is so proud of himself when he, um, deposits his treasures in the correct location...we are all invited to come and take a look. Ava usually declines, but Scott and I take one for the team and cheer for G. And I always walk away thinking, "Thank God that monster thing didn't end up in his underwear!" It's definitely not perfect, but he's to the point where he realizes that underwear is way more comfy than pull-ups, and he doesn't like it when I am constantly asking him if he needs to go potty. AND (this may seem silly, but it's been a great motivation for him)...if he uses the potty right when he gets up, he can keep his pjs on while we eat breakfast. Today was a success, until he somehow peed on the arm/shoulder of his pjs (how? I have no idea...) but I let him pick out new pjs and he's as happy as can be. Puppy and Marshall were having fun hanging out in the cup holders... G is al

Lines, Lines, So Many Lines!

I think we need to book a warm weather vacation every year, post holidays, post January...right at the point where it's getting a bit too much to take the arctic cold that Minnesota often gets this time of year. It makes the prospect of a few more months of cold weather more palpable. So, a big thank you to Grandma Deb and Grandpa Whitey to hosting our late Christmas in February in Florida! The flight was ok...a little bumpy on the way down, and the kids were mostly good. Thank goodness for Kindles to keep them entertained! We took it easy for the first night, and had a nice dinner at their house. We also then opened our Christmas presents, and the kids were thrilled with all of the fun new toys that they received. Waiting patiently to leave the chilly weather! The second day was packed full of...lines. We got up early and headed to Orlando (about an hour southwest of their place) to spend the day with the big mouse and his friends. My biggest impression is that there we

The Bold North!

Welcome to the #boldnorth! I'm very happy that the weather in Minnesota has pulled through and exhibited everything that this part of the country has to offer during the winter. Yesterday, it snowed pretty much all day, and today, it's sunny, with bright blue skies, and -3 degrees, with a windchill of -22. With all of the out-of-state visitors here for the Superbowl, I didn't want Mother Nature to wimp out and produce a lovely 35 degree winter day...it's cold up here, and now people know it! Ha! In any case, the game will be on, but I bet we will be paying more attention to the Puppy Bowl, the commercials, and JT's halftime show. I guess I hope the Pats win, so those nasty Eagles fans don't tear up our beautiful town. They can pack up and head back home as quickly as possible...without punching any people or police horses, preferably. This was my football donut on the day the Vikes barely showed up to play the Eagles a few weeks back...I still think it'
