S'mores and Stars

I cannot believe that Ava only has 6 more days of school left...and then she'll be a 5th grader, and starting her last year of elementary school! When did that happen? They are having so much fun the last few weeks of school...this week, the 4th graders went on a field trip to the Mill City Museum in Minneapolis. The fact that she is getting to see all of these places (as will G, when he gets older and is in school) and also that my parents are making an effort to get to know MSP better, brought me to the conclusion that we need to have more family outings. So, the goal is that once a month, we're going to pick a place to visit, and head out on a Sunday to explore. I think it's important to travel to these locations, and experience these adventures together. There are a ton of places that I've never been (I didn't grow up in MN, so I didn't get to do field trips like these) and I always hear people talking about them. NOW is the right time to check them out!

Walks and Whines

Remember my bulletin board that I mentioned last week? It's down to just TWO pieces of paper on it....wheeee! I don't recall being quite this busy before, but WOW! G had a Mother's Day breakfast on Monday, so he and I had a great time chomping on sweets and fruits. It might have been his only good time at daycare this week, as he was N-A-U-G-H-T-Y! He was not a nice little boy during the week...not to his friends, not to his teachers, not to his family, and not to his underwear! We were on a good potty-training streak for a while, but this past week was brutal. Ugh. I hope this coming week is a better one... Ava had so much stuff going on...she had her field day at school (she still likes the stilts games the best) on Monday, baton practice on Tuesday, an ortho consultation on Wednesday (no braces needed at this time, but we'll go back in a year for a follow-up,) a local garage sale adventure on Thursday, a very long 5k with my Mom and me on Friday (it was close

Bows and Beast Boy

My bulletin board at home is covered with notices about upcoming events. It drives me nuts to have so much paperwork there, but I need to have everything posted so I don't forget about upcoming activities. Yesterday, I was able to start removing some items, as we are finally getting to the days where the events are taking place! For someone like me, who thrives on checking off items on to-do lists, and loves the feeling of closure, this is a BIG deal. Yesterday, G and Scott spent some good quality time together, as a group of neighborhood girlfriends and I headed south to Cannon Falls for a girls' day out event at the winery. There was shopping from local vendors (really cute stuff!), a specialty cocktail they prepared just for that day (it was a lavender concoction, and it was dee-lish), and wines (of course!) After we had our (literal) fill, we headed across the street to a local tavern, and had a yummy lunch. It was SO nice to enjoy the morning with friends, and to do some

Twirlers and Tea

We were certainly not bored this week! I worked another million hours, but I feel like the end is in sight...my project will be launching this coming week, and I'm hoping to get back to a more normal schedule once that happens (knock on wood!) G's spring conferences took place this Monday. Academically, he's doing fantastic - he's one smart little boy! He struggles with hopping on his left foot, but...we can work on that. Turns out that he's stubborn and when he's done working on a task, he is DONE. I admire that...he won't get pushed into doing something he doesn't want to. Reminds me of when I was four and at a swimming pool. My swim teachers tried to get me to go into the deep end, but I really didn't want to, so I didn't, no matter what they said. Stand your ground, little G! Ava was also a busy bee this week...she had her baton class on Tuesday night, and then she had pictures for her class on Wednesday night. It was fun getting her all
