Pony Pony Pony!

Last weekend was deer opener for rifle, so Scott's been gone the past two weekends.  Ava and I have had a fun time hanging out, but we are definitely ready for Daddy to be around on the weekends. But, we make the best of our time while we have it.  We had a cooking weekend last weekend....we made cookies, muffins and pizza.  Lots of fun, and pretty messy!

And when Daddy came back, she helped him make mashed potatoes one night for dinner.  It appears that pants are optional while making dinner...!

One of my co-workers has two daughters who have outgrown some of their toys.  He happily passed along ALL of their My Little Pony toys.  I think we now have a herd of 50+ ponies, shoes, brushes, and various accessories.  It's crazy!  I only had 2 ponies when I was little, and I'm pretty sure they didn't have all of the fancy things to go along with it!

The nice thing is that we're using them as a potty training tool, too.  Ava's got #1 down fine, but she refuses to go #2 in the toilet, unless we catch her mid-act.  So I've told her that everytime she tells one of us that she has to go potty IN the toilet, she can pick out a pony from the neverending collection.  She was pretty excited by that idea...during her nap yesterday, she instructed me she had to go...but she had already gone in her pull-up.  She still thought she deserved a pony...but I'm staying strong on this one!  Something HAS to work to get this girl 100% potty trained! :)

Playing with the slide, house and a random Sleeping Beauty doll that was mixed in with the ponies (bonus!!)  This kept her attention for hours yesterday.  As long as she was happy, I was happy!

We'll see how many ponies we bring into the stable over this next week...I have a feeling they're going to be EVERY WHERE in our house!

Ugh. I totally feel for you on the whole not going #2 in the potty. It's very frustrating. Hopefully the ponies will help out!

Snuggly Warm

It's the time of year to be cozy, so there's nothing better than sitting in front of a warm fire, reading a good book/watching a good show, and enjoying the glow of the Christmas tree. Even Pria thinks so! Pria was avoiding the vacuum earlier this week...she loves to be on Ava's bed! Getting cozy inside of a little fortress After a fairly busy week at school, work, and extracurricular activities, we all enjoyed a night at home on Friday. G and I built gingerbread houses (they both look a little sad, but we had fun), and then we all played Tractoropoly for a few hours. Turns out that G was stockpiling money, so we need to figure out his secret on how to save! Love Ava's face and hand placement here And we can't forget all of the treats that George brought this week! Sunday, December 10 "Can you get a bullseye?" Monday, December 11 "I'm brining Christmas Cheer, by singing loud for everyone to hear!" Tuesday, December 12 "Don't be the o

Barbie & George

We had a fun week to wrap up November. Last Saturday, Scott and I enjoyed a nice dinner out, and then a spontaneous trip to Home Depot...and we got some new exterior Christmas décor! But more important was the time spent together. Plus, it started to snow, so the view from the restaurant was beautiful (but the drive home was a little sketchy.) On Tuesday night, Ava and I headed out to the Mall of America to experience the Malibu Barbie Café. We had a blast exploring the area, eating the yummy food, and then shopping for a bit. It was a wonderful night evening spent together. Even the drinks were pretty! My Avocado Toast & salad Ava's Paradise Pancakes On Friday night, my book club gathered for our holiday party and it was a blast! We had such a good time chatting, eating, drinking, and finished off the night with a book exchange. I cherish and deeply appreciate the friendships that have developed with my neighbors because of this book club. And to really kick off the holiday se

Christmas treats...Yummy!

We had another great week filled with visits from George, some Christmas treat baking/decorating, and all of the other typical things that we try to squeeze in during the non-holiday season! Last Sunday, my mom came over and provided support while I made fudge, and then helped decorate us Christmas cookies. This year, we opted to purchase pre-baked cutout cookies in a kit, so we could focus on the decorating. The cookies aren't nearly as good as the ones my mom makes, but we still had fun! This one is my personal favorite...so cute! On Monday night, Ava earned her third stripe on her green belt in TKD. Way to go! Earlier today (Saturday), Santa made his annual trip through our neighborhood, escorted by the Rosemount Fire and Police departments. What a fun way to meet up with our neighbors for a little bit on a Saturday morning. Santa's way back there on the fire truck! And let's not forget our generous elf, George. Whadda guy! He's been bringing fun gifts every day! Sun
